Sounds great kat! I should polish up that segment...

Another nice addition, JP! I like the way you've developed these characters. And

Spoiler
triplets! :)

No, I'm not dead, and neither are my characters! :P Post coming up in a minute or two. :D Not much plot advancement, but... my current plan is to change that next post. ;)

In the meanwhile, though, I have been keeping up--and you guys have been keeping it interesting! ;)

Ravenbrook: It took me more than two years to finish one arc; trust me, you're far from the slowest. :P And your stuff is so interesting! Very mysterious, and as enthralling as the music your characters play. ;) :) I'm curious to see how it all plays out in the end....

JillPole: Aww, it was cute to see Eruheran and Oceana have a scene. And

stargazer (& co. ;)): Stop with the cute overload!! :P Awwww, Erik is such a good Daddy; can't wait to see what she's like when she gets older. :P :) Hehe, I was kind of wondering how Gwanuig would react to the movies.... :P

She knew that any connection between her husband’s people and those involved in the War of the Ring had long since been dissolved. When the elves had settled in this dimension, they had made a life for themselves and their culture had evolved into something similar, but different from what was described in the books.

What does she know about Varna?
This confirms my impression that Middle-earth stayed in its own dimension, and that our world is a different one (and the Ditto world yet another).
Varna comes from the Middle-earth-dimension, but has visited the two others ...

Or is this a matter for PMs?

Fun seggie, Ryadian. I can tell by some of the little touches ("obligatory drool," the boisterous way Shadow acts) that you're drawing on your own experience with Scotty. :)

(As far as an older Molly is concerned, I'm enjoying exploring this in my NaNo stories :) )

Varna, I think your conclusion is reasonable as it applies to the Ditto Story's world (that is, we can have slight differences from the real world). I think discussing it here is fine. We can discuss general plot points and the like; it's detailed descriptions or quotations we should avoid (per the fan fiction guidelines). Make sense?

And Erik and Abby are ready to receive guests for the movie night!

We need to decide whether Varna and Gwanuig/Katherine have met before, and whether we should include something about the fact that Varna is related to those elves who are no longer connected to Gwanuig's family. This could either be established in a flashback, or they could talk about it before the viewing.

Varna, if you want to put something together, that would be fine with me. :) Katherine went to the opening of the bookstore, so wouldn't our characters have met there? Not sure about if Gwanuig would have been there. I can't remember.

I'll do some research and start thinking about something ... ;)

Edit:
So far I've found that Katherine did not go to the opening of the bookshop - they had left shortly before that, to go to the other dimension.

They may have met before that, though, while Varna was still working on planning the opening. On some occasion that neither of us have written about ... ;)

Just a new little snippet inspired by the Phoenix Archer getting a pet.

Spoiler
Incidentally, I wrote this some time ago, before learning that Ryadian intended the dog to be named 'Shadow.' Great minds and all that. ;)

Hi everyone; the Dittotown Elder is still alive and kicking ;).
It has taken a little use tonight to get use to Mod23 and the Lone Ranger. In fact I had originally gotten you confused when I read the latest story postings. I guess things will change back sometime tomorrow :).
A reminder, Varna, that Rose and your character did meet back in Middle earth (as per the segment in the bookstore opening).
The dog segment came at an interesting time; my sister-in-law just brought home a new puppy (border collie)

Yes, they met - Varna didn't recognize her in Ditto Town, as Rose had only been a child when they met (and for Varna, this was a few thousand years back anyway), and Rose hadn't recognized her either. But when Varna spoke about the occasion when they had met, Rose recognized the occasion and told her.

Varna spent some time in the Shire three hundred years before the War of the Ring, but after that she didn't go back much, mainly for accompanying friends on their way to the Havens. So she doesn't know very well the Shire of the LotR, the only Hobbits of that period that she knows, are those who came to Rivendell. The only Hobbit she knew really well, was Bilbo, who stayed in Rivendell for so long.

I think that Varna and Katherine/Gwanuig have met (some time before they left) and have established the non-connection - and that I'll work it in into some kind of short comment (or flashback, but perhaps not even that) to briefly explain that non-connection.

leuth! Great to see you! :)

The movie night has had a pleasant side-effect I hadn't anticipated when Erik and Abby first mentioned it...that it might inspire us to explore the ways our characters may have met, once upon a time. Fun stuff! (Alas, the gargoyles don't have much to investigate there; I think they encountered any Ditto Story characters only after Erik stumbled through that portal ;)) ).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

And we are back! Joe (narnianerd) is so fun to work with.

Spoiler
The device is of course the "stargate-ripoff" hyperspace travel device.
If anyone is interested in being part of this arc, or thinks it might work its way into their arcs, let me know.

Fun interaction between Cameron and the DeHonds! :)

As far as the

Spoiler
stargate-like item is concerned, Erik will be very curious about it, both as a scientifically-minded person and since he travels through a different sort of dimension gate. Now that he's a 'family man,' however, he might be hesitant to actually use the new one. ;)

The dog segment came at an interesting time; my sister-in-law just brought home a new puppy (border collie)

;)) Funny how that works out!

So, Masked Rider and I posted our newest segments almost at the same time.... :P That wasn't planned, but we've kind of been feeding each other's Ditto Story inspiration, so I suppose it's appropriate. ;) For me, I have two more posts coming up, but I'm probably going to post them later today (given that it's already Saturday here :P). Just to say: once mine is all posted (MR's already is), both of our arcs are "open-ended", in that anyone can jump in if they want. :)

But I am REALLY happy to have this segment posted. :D It's original version has been on my computer since 2007....

I had a lot of fun reading your segment, Masked Rider. The narrative was almost sort of interactive, the way you broke the fourth wall and teased us with that ending...

Nice to see the arrival of Kirane, Ryadian! I think she'll make an interesting addition to the story.
