David Tennant is a very popular Scottish actor, perhaps best known for playing the tenth incarnation of the Doctor in BBC's long-running show Doctor Who. He has also starred in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr.

Recently he played the lead role in a BBC production of Hamlet. He gave an incredible performance. Exuding cruel sarcasm and bitter, simmering rage. I highly recommend watching it.

I just think that he is such a skilled actor that he would be a very good choice for the role of Shift.

I still think it should be Andy Serkis! and my mom was saying that since he did Gollum's movements on a motion capture stage, what if he did the actions as well as the voice of Shift? that would be SO cool!

I vote Alfred Molina. He's a British actor, played in Spiderman (though I've never seen that). Not sure what else he's been in.
I like Andy Serkis, but...I dunno, there might be some element slightly lacking in his performance of Shift...I can't put my finger on it, but he's not my first choice.

Alfred Molina would be my second choice if Andy Serkis didn't get picked!!!!!
