Oh, that's so weird. I was just thinking Cate Blanchett should play her. So I came on here to suggest her, and found that she had already been suggested!
It looks like I'm not the only one who thinks she would be amazing in that role!
Cate Blanchett for the win!

I think she might just be a little too old, maybe. I hope not.
A concern about Cate Blanchett is that she doesn't have red hair. I would prefer for LotGK to have red hair, but so far the filmmakers have put acting quality as a priority over the character's appearance. I think I'd rather have better acting than her appearance, and in that case, Cate Blanchett fits the bill.
Then again, that wouldn't be too big of an issue since we have hair dye.

She's arleady played in Lord of the Rings, and using Cate Blanchett will cause people to think Narnia is ripping off LotR again.
Also, Cate is a bit too old.
Also, she'll be acting in The Hobbit during the time the Silver Chair movie would start production.

Yes this is true and I hate that Narnia is already compared to LotR. Hmm, maybe they'll just get a lesser known/unknown actress to play Lady of teh Green Kirtle.

Anyone thought of Romala Garai?
I could easily see her capturing Rilian with her winning smile, but then have her become a terrible witch. She's a terrific actress, and if Michael Apted were to continue to direct the series, she would already be well acquainted with the crew.
I saw the movie....and was disappointed
Emily Blunt is a wonderful choice, I think she has the right kind of face

I've always picture Romala Garai as Ramandu's daughter before Laura Brent was casted. I can see it if she changed her hair color to red or black!

I think a few years ago Angelina Jolie would have been the perfect choice but she's a bit too old now.

I don't know about Cate Blanchett. People already think her and Tilda somewhat look alike, so I don't think it would help to have Cate play LOTGK.
However, as long as it's not Tilda Swinton playing LOTGK I suppose I'm fine with nearly anyone. But I definitely think she should be young and attractive. Perhaps with reddish or strawberry blonde hair, green eyes would be lovely too if possible.

Welcome to Narnia Web, Kira!!! It's great to have you with us!!! I totally agree, as long as Tilda Swinton is not playing her, I'll be fine!

Thank you! It feels rather odd to be such a newbie, as I've done nothing but browse this site and forum for the past almost two weeks. Which is of course also a short time, but reading everyone's posts and seeing so many like minded people, I feel like I've been here forever.

Emily Blunt, Eva Green, Gemma Arterton and Evangeline Lilly are very nice choices indeed. Megan Fox, um I don't think so!
Here's a choice that's been going through my mind for LotGK for years now.
Sophia Myles (Underworld/Thunderbirds/Art School Confidential)
Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck)
"I'm an Alien, I'm a legal Alien, I'm a New Zealander in Perth!"
I think Emily Blunt is perfect!
I think she is attractive, british, I think she can pull off differnet roles, she can play a cold character (the Devil wears Prada) and she can play a nicer character (Sunshine cleaning), I also just purchased "The Woflman" but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I have heard she is good in it.
Although wonderful actresses, I think that Cate Blanchett and Uma Thurman are too old for the roles.
Sophia Myles I think could pull off the role. But she isn't my first choice. I liked her in Underworld.
I personally think that the role should be played by someone with darker hair and a face that can transistion between fierce and innocent. I think that some of the "heart faced actresses" suggested earlier in this forum are beautiful, but too innocent looking and just not right for the role.
Gemma Arterton would be good in the role. And I think she would accept it. She's gotten some media attention, but hasnt quite acheived the star power yet. I think she would bring in a small cult of fans and add a lot to the character.
I think her playing the Lady would help break her increasing trend of just being "the love interest".
