I think it could have a positive effect on the film, but I doubt it will take over the whole movie. Anyway, I don't think it will be horrible. (SO EXCITED!!!)

Wow, a lot of people seem to like it, huh?
I voted positive, because I feel a lot better about it than I originally did, and I trust that it won't be that big of a part. As for the plot.. I think it's kind of hard to tell, as we don't really know how it will be done. It could work out really well, or really badly.

Look I have no doubt that Arabella will be a great child actor. And if her role in the film helps add emotional weigh to the slave section of the story, I will be pleased with the character.
But if Gael is a lame attempt to recapture the "cute" kiddie factor of Lucy and Edmund from LWW...lets just say I'd rather she get sucked into the child soul-eating dragon cave of the Lady of the Green Kirtle. Then we'd never have to worry about her again.
Winter Is Coming
I don't think Gael's role is going to be this big major thing and possibly won't be shown too much. I can't see her going onto any of the islands because I think the grownup figures wouldn't let her for one thing, she's too young. She's also too young to be involved with anything majorly big or something threatening in the story, like a battle, etc. I'm not worried.

^ I believe Gael is picked up along with Rhince on the Lone Islands based on the background of this picture here where they appear to be running. And also in InklingsNut's report of the super trailer says "Early in their voyage, the crew will arrive at an island that is nearly deserted, because people have been disappearing from it. Gael’s parents were among those who disappeared."
In another super trailer report, subjectofthehighking wrote "Footage of Gael and Lucy. Gael says to Lucy in a ship’s cabin, “When I grow up, I want to be just like you.” Lucy replies by putting her arm around Gael and saying, “When you grow up, I want you to be just like you.” Another scene includes Lucy comforting Gael as she misses her mother by telling her to trust in Aslan."
We also know that she's involved in the Dark Island of Green Mist because she can be seen in this screenshot here.
So as far as I can tell, she's going to be on the voyage from the Lone Islands til the missing people are rescued (cause I'm assuming they'll be rescued ) and likely clear to the end of the movie (cause how are the rescued people gonna get home besides the Dawn Treader?).
But having said that, I really don't foresee her being a major character in any way.
I think i just dislike the idea of wasting time on her character more then anything. I wish they would just have the main characters interact with each other rather then with a lot of other people.
I couldn't tell you until I see the movie. I'm gonna keep an open mind about it though.

I'm with wolfloversk. Right now all I can have is an open mind about it and that one way or the other it doesn't really matter to me. She's an adorable girl who obviously has no huge part in the movie. At least that's what I think.

yeah, I have to say that, after much deliberation, I have decided that I think that Gael is going to be a positive influence and I think she'll fit into Narnia well!

I also dislike Lucy having another little friend for the third film in a row. I am ready to move on from that already.

I agree also.
I mean...she could be a nice addition if they took her character seriously. But judging by the tone of the trailer, she will be used only for "cute" kiddie purposes.

I think the being yourself statement fits quite nicely in regards to the fact that Lucy looks up the beauty spell. She wants to be beautiful like Susan. Her statement mirrors one of her own personal themes in the movie. Having Gael in the movie doesn`t bother me. Giving Lucy a friend younger than herself gives her the opportunity to protect and nurture someone else instead of being the little one everyone else looks after. Having Gael there is a bit of a moment for self reflection. Its like a parallel of Susan and herself.
This indeed gives Gael a sort of profound reason for being present in the film. Her friendship reaches a more personal level than Trumpkin or Tumnus (sp). I find the friendship to be meaningful and appropriate considering the stage that Lucy is going through in the movie. I could be over analyzing as seeing this as a tool of symbolism and character growth for Lucy. Fox could just want her to have a cute friend. However, after taking everything into consideration , I think she might be meant for more than that.
I dislike the Trumpkin/Lucy friendship in the films. I think i dislike it because in the books it is sort of the opposite. I think that in the scene where Lucy sees Aslan for the first time the DLF says that if it were to be the same lion it would be addled in the mind or something like that and Lucy gets so angry she almost throws herself on him meaning almost attacked him. There wasn't a special friendship between the two of them in the book like there is in the film.
I think i dislike it more because they are creating these special friends for Lucy and i don't like that. It doesn't make the film bad or anything. There are other things that do that.
