eustacegirl, I totally agree with you...I believe she kept her innocence....and her faith. It went hand in hand...she was still little and innocent. Just some years older. I think that she tried to be brave but was still scared. Her innocence was very still there. I like her in PC.

I like her better in LWW, but she's great in PC as well.

"Why? Do I look older?"
I enjoy watching her in both movies, but I have to say that I really like her in PC!
for one thing, she is older, so she understands things better and from a more mature veiwpoint. secondly, she seems so much closer to Aslan in PC. I love her interaction with him! also, she seems a bit more blod, which is cool!

In the movie half of the pevensies (i.e. Peter & Susan) were not the magic but instead needed a bit of it for themselves. Lucy and Edmond kept the faith and were therefore part of the magic. As a result, PC was more about all the faith issues involved instead of all the purity and innocence that was part of LWW.
I agree with that. The themes in Prince Caspian are different. Innocence is not so much a factor as is the element of faith that Watziznehm mentions. I have only seen the aforementioned film once, but I was left with the impression that Lucy Pevensie's constancy makes a significant difference.
Having said that, I like her character just a bit more in the first film. Even after the first viewing, Lucy's character--who is portrayed so sweetly by Miss Georgie Henley--was very memorable to me because of that indescribable sense of wonder and innocence that she has, particularly, during her first visit to Narnia.

Innocence is not something to be grown out of, but I didn't sense that Lucy had grown out of it just because she had grown up. I think she was probably better in LWW, though.

Wow...I usually don't have 2 pages on a topic!!
I enjoyed reading all of your comments on Lucy in LWW and PC. It was very interesting of what all of you put. You pretty much said the same thing, but in different words. I have come to a conclusion, that almost everyone said they liked her better in LWW because of her inner child and innocence!
This thread is still open for more comments/concerns!

I like her better in PC (not that I didn't love her in LWW) because she seemed to be the same Lucy, but like she has grown more confident with who she is. She seems more mature in this movie because she has so much more experience in this movie. She may have only aged a year, but she had grown-up and lived for years in the Golden Age of Narnia. I think if she seemed as childlike as she did in LWW it would make her character less believable because it would seem like she had forgotten everything she went through.

I like Lucy better in PC. She is more grown-up and cohesive. Although I loved her in LWW, I love the spark she put into PC.
Yeah, that was because she was the ONLY spark, except Edmond. Her drive in PC is so evident because the people around her are all in unbelief, Caspian, Peter, Susan, and Trumpkin, you name it. In LWW, even though there are allot of important elements that Lucy contributes too, it is Peter who gains the biggest victory. In PC, Peter is not only not the kingly person he's supposed to be, but he's more of an immature kid than he was at the beginning of LWW. When you compare Lucy to people like that, of course her drive and spark are going to come through. I think that Lucy had that drive and spark in LWW as well, but because of the setting and characters around her, in PC, that part of her was more evident.

I completely disagree with you, Watziznehm. Especially the bit about Peter. This thread is supposed to be about Lucy and Lucy only.
I think Watziznehm's remarks were fine as he was contrasting Lucy with other characters. The moderators will decide what is and what isn't appropriate or off topic.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.

That is a very important point. In the first film, Lucy Pevensie experienced a gamut of emotions and dealt with very complex situations. It would not have made sense--and it would have been out of character--if she was as innocent in the second film.
Her journey is perilous and she does wrestle with many questions. Also, once again, she is having to deal with her siblings not believing her and the things that she saw.

Wow! Great thread!
I don't know if I like Lucy more in LWW or PC. I really like her in both. But I agree with Watz that the emphasis/message in each movie was different and in both movies a major aspect of Lucy's character was exactly what the others needed and therefore lacked. In LWW, innocence; in PC, faith.
Watz: ditto on Peter. Young Undine: I also think Lucy was more memorable in LWW. In PC, hard to say. Caspian? Peter? Because it's not necessarily Lucy for me.
Curious: what is everyone expecting of Lucy in VDT?
while Lucy is great and memorable in LWW, I think the reason I like her in PC best is because she was older and she really held it togther and belived in Aslan while veryone else doesn't listen.

Lucy in LWW. But her character in PC wasn't her fault. The screenwriters just didn't make her more of a umm...... A VALIANT.
"I think I can be brave enough." <---- I almost want to scream everytime I hear that.
But most her faith In PC was great although more better in LWW.
