There's no reason for her not to have an accent. Lewis was English and wrote The Chronicles of Narnia to sound English. It wouldn't really make sense for Jill to say the dialogue, slang, and expressions in anything but an English accent.

English is probably the one accesnt that will make most sense, but what about Irish? I can see that too. Maybe that is a teasing point bacause Irish is quite an obvious accent, and my Grandad (who is Irish) got teased for his accent because he said tree istead of three*, etc... It would be good to have an accent that suggest the UK though because as many people have said, not many people would want to be moving to Wartime england!

*...and also, teasing for an accent would be a good morral because it would teach that it shouldn't matter where you are from or anthing like that, and we see jill become more confidant throughout SC because she is excepted :)

Narnia is childhood...

Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!

Lewis was actually Irish, he was born and raised in Ireland.
CharlotteRose, I like the idea of a moral like that!

So now CS Lewis was thinking of people getting teased for accents when he wrote SC? /:) *sighs* Well, it's better than most of what they did to VDT, anyway... and I suppose it could work. I do admit, it does sound interesting- particulary because Lewis was born in Ireland. :)

But an English accent is definitely the best option, at least in my opinion. There does not seem to be much point in it being otherwise. If you want to make Jill American or Irish, then why not make Digory and Polly and even the Pevensies that? (Oh, I do hope I'm not giving anyone ideas...) Why does everyone choose Jill for this discussion?

*Eyes group of her preteen peers* Nevermind, I already know...
...Has Douglas Gresham ever commented on this topic?

Well if they find a GREAT American actress for Jill then I guess they use that solution. But really, truly, I want them to go with an English accent....
But an Irish accent? Now that might be interesting actually! :D

In all honestly, I don't care who Jill is as long as she acts well and looks like she fit the character enough. :)
