I would be 100% behind Harry Lloyd for Rillian, if it weren't for the fact that he's going to be in the new fantasy TV show Game of Thrones. I mean, he can do armor:
bow and arrow:
and is a bit melancholy.
But it might be a mistake to have a fantasy actor do Rillian since it sort of cheapens the magic of Narnia. Although, chances are, Rillian won't have whit hair:
I posted in the ideas for Silver Chair thread that I also thought Hugh Dancy would do (even better than Harry Lloyd) as he's in his mid-30's, about Rilian's age. He's got period film experience, and is a great actor who can pull off gravitas.
A bit of an older screencap from Elizabeth where he played the Earl of Essex.

I absolutely agree. I've only seen Hugh Dancy in "Ella Enchanted" but he was amazing in that. It wasn't like an award winning movie or anything, but his performance was still great. He gets my vote.
Minty I saw him in Ella Enchanted too, and I think he'd do a great job.He was actually at the top of my list...
But then I visited the Merlin thread in the Spare Oom and remembered my fave character played by Eoin Macken

Probably the same problem as Harry Lloyd 'game of thrones.'
He already has a link to fantasy and magic themes. Then again, he wasn't a main part really so it might not matter...Thoughts?
Narnia is childhood...
Seriously, just give the kid the orange. He needs his vitamin C!
Put me in the Hans Matheson camp:) Love him. He was wonderful in the Masterpiece Classic version of Tess of the D'Urbervilles, as well as The Tudors.

Now, I've never seen him act before, but based off me seeing ads for Prince of Persia, does anybody think that Jake Gyllenhaal would be a good Rilian? When I first saw ads, I thought he looked a lot like movie Caspian.

I thought Charlie Cox could be a good Rilian too. I saw him in Stardust, and I thought he did really well. As for people saying people would recognize the Barnes/ Cox collab, it's not like many people would realize that, especially since Stardust wasn't even a huge hit.
I'm going to have to go with Charlie Cox as a candidate for Rilian. I just adore his work and it would be cool to get him as Caspian's son, he already played Ben's son in Stardust. I think it could be an amazing reunion between the both of them. And btw Stardust needs to be a big hit. It's seriously one of the best storytelling movies that ever came out in the last decade. More movies needs to be like that.

I like Chris Evans for Rillian.
In these pictures they look kind of alike:

With longer hair I think Chris could look like Rilian, it's just he's a very big name now, I don't think he would go for Narnia unless Narnia makes more money.

I don't think Chris Evans looks anything like Ben Barnes, but I do like him a lot and wouldn't mind seeing him in the role. In some ways, I feel the role of Rilian is one of those -not-a-lot-of-screen-time-but-a-important-character roles that's best to give to a well known actor then a nobody. That way the movie get the big name actor but for a smaller amount of money (or at least I assume).

How about this guy? Today my friend made me look him up and I'm glad she did, he would make a really good candidate for Rilian. His name is Andrew Lee Potts:

How about Chris Hemsworth, who is currently well known for his role in Thor? I only stumbled upon him because it is his birthday today. He reminds me of Rilian a lot in the illustrations. He's Australian, but hey, with a little training, he could do a great accent.
I think Chris Hemsworth is ok, but I was thinking someone with brown hair....maybe even Liam Hemsworth.
I'm going to try to not imagine him, just so I don't have a chance of being disappointed.
