Oh, NO! Please let there not be any romances between any of the characters! The Caspian/Susan romance really wasn't necessary in PC, and I was neutral to it. But if they tried it again with Jill and Eustace, Tirian and Lucy, or anyone that C.S. Lewis hadn't written in the books, I would go insane!

I doubt Lewis ever meant to hint at crushes, and all those kind interactions between male and female characters was because they were friends, not even close to anything more. I wouldn't mind seeing hints of something between Shasta and Aravis and Caspian and Lilliandil, but that's because they were meant to be. Ahhhhh!

Alright, I better stop before I pass out, and sorry if I'm a bit over the top about this. But I voted other, for I am strongly against any created romances.
I agree. If anyone wants romance go read fanfiction. I could see though how people ship Eustace and Jill because of their great friendship.

I wouldn't mind Jill and Eustace as long as things didn't get serious. Of course...how do you think they'll handle the Caspian + Susan thing.... After all, he's married now! Oh wait...Susan doesn't come back...well, after Suspian, she better not!!!! *passes out at thought*

I agree.
I like Eustace and Jill as kind of a "pre-couple". The kind of duo where you wonder if they'll get together someday; and in some ways you hope they do, and in other ways you hope they don't.
I've always pictured it as Eustace liking Jill romantically, but her not liking him back at all, and not really having any respect for him as a person either. Then she slowly starts to think of him as a friend, but still finds him annoying. Then she sees him and he finally wins her respect. Then she maybe starts to wonder if she likes him ( ), but it never gets a chance to turn into anything, because... Well, we all know how LB ends.

Riella, now you are getting me hopeful! I can just picture it...
Eustace whips bad dudes.
Jill: My heeero!
Ok, so not really but It'd be cool!
*ducks tomatoes*
Pre-couple would be good- I'm not sure if I want them married or not (not like they get the chance, but as "what if?". Well I'm undecided. So pre-couple sounds okay.

Just curious...is it the names or the thought of them together making you laugh?
BTW, some of those names work, some don't so well...

Umm actually, I don't remember anymore! I think the names. Not that they're bad (I'm sorry if I offended you) but its funny how we are creating all these wacky names for pairs!
I personally don't want them togther though.
I wouldn't mind Eustace/Jill IF it wasn't so similar to Cor/Aravis. I think its more original if they stay friends anyways. I mean these days you always have the couple that started off annoyed at each other and bickering yet end up in love at the end. So no romance would be better. As well, I feel the setting is to serious for romance.

When I first read The Last Battle, I was totally sensing something special between Jill and Tirian. I just think if there is going to be romance at all, it should be them. Lucy and Tirian just doesn't make sense. It's much to late in the story to try and create a romance between the two of them. I also am not in favor of a romance between Jill and Eustace. That just seems too wierd. There's no hint of attraction at all between the two of them in the books, and I think it would be a mistake to add one into the movie. It would make it seem as if it's impossible for a guy and a girl to just be friends as they grow older and that there must be some romantic attraction at some point. Jill and Eustace are just friends, and nothing more. I do kind of like the idea of a Jill/Tirian relationship. It just seems like a logical place to insert a romance if there is to be a romance at all, which I wouldn't mind if there was one as long as it was between these two characters. Otherwise I say, "What's the point?"

I am the Queen of Narnia against whom C. S. Lewis held a grudge and hence did not mention in his books.
I am in favor of a Jill/Tirian romance. After all, I know that it really did happen because I was there to see it when it did happen...
I think that Eustace and Jill are the best option! As Riella explained it, of course! But if not that then I think none at all! Jill and Tirian doesnt work (IMO) because h is like 20 something and she's like 16! It just doesnt work!

I'm with Forgotten Queen of Narnia, when I first read LB, I always saw Tirian liking Jill, but as I kept reading, I figured that he was just being chivalrous because... well... this is Narnia we're talking about, queens just don't go smooching princes at random
I think a romance with Lucy and someone (I'd lead more toward Emeth... if they went with Tirian it'd seem like it'd be too close to Suspian) would be nice, but there's not enough time to develop that.
As for a Jill/Eustace romance, I wouldn't mind if it were EXTREMELY subtle... like how Reilla explained it though
But I think that a romance would distract from the seriousness of the plot. So I voted for both Eustace/Jill and there shouldn't be any

I've always wondered... what parts, exactly, indicate Jill/Tirian? Because I've never noticed them. Does anyone have any passages?
I know the indication of Jilstace is the part where Jill feels strangely shy around Eustace, and that can go either way, depending on the interpretation of the reader.
I'm of the opinion that Jilrian might look... creepy. I know that there's only about four years between them, and that's fine when the couple is older. But it's different when one is an adult, and the other is still a minor. I think parents might have issues with it.
As for anyone being with Lucy or the Pevenises, or Emeth, that would be hard considering that they don't meet until they're in Aslan's country. And it's hard for two reasons. 1. Aslan's Country is the sort of equivalent to heaven, where there is no romance. And 2. That's at the end of the story. And forming a new plotline, whether it's romantic or not, would look odd at the very end of a movie, especially a Narnia movie. In my opinion anyway....

Are you saying Eustace likes Jill in the books?? I didn't see it. I don't disagree with the idea; I just didn't see it. Please explain?
Now this is interesting!

I'm not Valiant, but my personal opinion is a reader can interpret the book text in whichever way they want to, some of it depends on your age/frame of mind I think when you read the book and what you see in it at age 5 or 12 or 18 versus what you see in it at age 30 or 40 or 70.... (this is what makes reading the Narnia stories so cool by the way....always room for new insights on the books).
The way certain text comes off sometimes when reading Silver Chair, I sometimes personally see it with a tinge of maybe Jill possibly having some admiration towards Eustace for how he's slightly different because they're in Narnia, like when they're fighting or trying to get away from trouble. One sees Eustace cares about Jill if she's in trouble. This can all be read as a strong friendship. There is sometimes subtext (reading between the actual lines of what's on the page) that is open (as Ithilwen said) to different interpretations. Though, as I previously posted, I don't think they should have any romances at all in LB. I prefer everything be left open for interpretation...
