What Governor Gumpas?

Governor Gumpas is ruler of the Lone Islands and was originally cast to be played by David Vallon.

Gumpas is the Governor of the Lone Islands and here's a picture of him.

There's another of Eustace hitting him with an oar:

which suggests that he is vital to the Lone Islands subplot. This is either a mistake or a true baffling puzzle indeed.

I wonder, was it ever confirmed that the man in the green costume was Gumpas?

^^^According to IMDB, David Vallon was cast as Gumpas, and these pictures are definitely of David Vallon.

btw, I don't believe Will is hitting the governor; he is merely handing the oar up to someone. His face does not portray any violence; besides, he's a pacifist

Yes, that is David Vallon as Gumpas above and either he or his stunt double below. We still don't know for sure yet as there may be a mixup in characters. Maybe when Tirian posts his limited review we might know more.

Actors have filmed scenes which were later cut.

I thought we had an interview with David Vallon several months ago. He made it sound like his role was fairly important. And it would make no sense to cut him. Who else would be ruling the Lone Islands? Pug?

I wonder if maybe some of it will be added in later. I don't really know how all the movie editing and stuff works. Also I can't remember who said it or exactly where, but I do remember hearing that some characters would only be in the 3D version. I wouldn't think that would include Gumpas and Pittencream. I don't know. It's quite puzzling.

This report was so confusing. I wouldn't think that the new characters would be actually people they filmed shots with before it was going to be 3D.

From what I heard Ramadu is going to be mentioned. I don't know if that's true

There's also a thread about this (Gov Gumpas) in the rumors section of the forum [see the link below]. I think we need one thread to discuss Gumpas, not two. But he fits both characters and rumors. lol I posted my thoughts in the other thread. There is a picture of Vallon as Gumpas in the book Quest for the Lost Lords. And it appears in my reviews analysis on AC [posted in the other thread].

If Gumpas is in fact not in the movie (which it appears that he will be) then maybe when they go to island they will have their first encounter with the (dreaded) "green mist." From there they will continue on to find the missing lords and stop the green mist.

It has been confirmed in an interview with Mark Johnson that Ramandu will not be in the movie, though it appears as though he might have a reference or two.

weird.....I hope he was confused about Gumpas......
my mom is wondering if maybe they filmed Gumpas and then cut all his parts out......?

Pittencream was in the leaked script, but I guess he didnt make it to the final draft. I guess its not that big of a deal.
