Is it as bad as it could have been? Nope. It could have been much, much worse than one line.
So Bookwyrm, did you end up watching the movie afterall?

I didn't really see a "crush on Caspian" with Lucy.
What I did see was Lucy's lack of confidence in her appearance, and her trying to gain some by trying to make Caspian see her as a woman.
And, uh, can someone please come up with a better name for this pairing?

It really wasn't bad at all. I don't know how many of you were ever 13 year old girls, but yes they can have crushes on 20 year olds. I'm sure I did at some point. And really, Caspian had just saved her from the water, there's probably a little adrenaline there as well.
I actually thought Caspian's response almost seemed tailored to gently let Lucy down - reminding her that she's younger than Susan was in PC.
I will say, however, that marriage between a 13/14 year old and a 20 year old would basically only be a problem in the past 200 years or so, unlike any other time in human history when it would probably be expected (*especially* among nobility - peasants did it less often because they had to afford to get married first.)

Yeah, I was wondering about that scene. It definitely made me cringe inside although no one could see me cringe. Lucy confused me a lot in this movie. But I am so glad that Caspian didn't say anything back. At least that is not why she ripped the page out of the Magician's book.
Honestly, I think Lucy was genuinely curious as to whether Caspian had found himself a queen.
And I think Lucy was joyful that Caspian liked Lilliandil so much.
I did not see Lucy have interest in Caspian specifically at all. Sure sure, she wants to be pretty like Susan so that boys (in general) will like her- but she does not seem to want Caspian specifically.
I think you have nailed book Lucy very well. That is why C.S.Lewis put the second temptation Lucy fell into - eavesdropping on her friends. The film Lucy is no different, despite the absence of that particular spell.

I could understand if Lucy did have a slight crush on Caspian as a thirteen year old, having been just rescued by a handsome kingly 20 year old pin-up boy , but I'm so glad about Caspian's gentlemanly way of handling that sort of situation. So much better than the book Caspian's comment about the Duke of Galma's "squints and has freckles" remark. Caspian would have seen Lucy and Edmund as like the siblings he never had as the film makes abundantly clear.
Lucy and Susan's behaviour in the film was about normal for girls of their age group at the time of WW2 when UK, Australian and American soldiers were considered heroes and much more admirable than is the case now. Despite the carping about American soldiers being 'overpaid, oversexed and over here'. . Edmund and even Caspian's behaviour is also typical of that era.

Good point! But I'd mention it is only in the last hundred years, in fact almost up until WW2 that marriage between 13/14 year olds and 20 year olds would have been seen as a problem. It is still par for the course in some more tribal areas of the world. I'd say that convicts, er peasants only married when they were given permission to do so. Either by the local lord, squire or 'laird', or by whoever was governing them.
I thought it was just their way of showing Lucy as being uncomfortable with her appearance. I thought she was practicing what she saw, not as really coming on to Caspian because she's got a crush on him, but more would he notice her as a woman, like someone said above.

Caspiacy? Lucian? Cacy? Caslu? Lucas?
I'm still trying to put bits and pieces in my brain as to why a lot of people are against Lucy having a crush on Caspian in the leaked script. It's not like Caspian was going to like her the same way back, then again I was lucian before I became lilspian.

In the original post for the topic, I wrote about an instance where I think it might have occurred.
(I always called it Lucian - Luspian sounds weird)
A marriage between a 13 year old and a 20 year old would have been probably unusual past the Victorian age when society began 'upping' the age of childhood, at least in England. By WWII, 18-20 was probably more the average, and I think you could only marry earlier than 17 with parental permission. My great-grandmother married at 23, around 1930 (and she was a poor immigrant), my grandmother married at 19 circa 1953/4.

I'm gonna disagree here, Minotaur. I could be wrong, but I suspect that thought only occurred to you because you had read the leaked script.
I have had both male and female friends ask me "so, do you have a girlfriend yet?" and smile awkwardly and/or giggle a little.
Lucy was smiling because it's kind of an awkward question to ask, particularly when you were just reunited with the person minutes ago.

I don't quite remember if the thought came to me when I was first watching the film or while I was thinking about it later, but although I was definitely influenced by the leaked script, I was more influenced by the way she messes with her hair. (The smile, I understand, could just relate to the awkwardness of the question.)
When Lucy first sees two lovers, she pulls her hair behind her ear as if it somehow makes her more beautiful. Later, she does the exact same thing in Eustace's house when she is asking Edmund if she's beautiful. When she repeats the motion for the third time in front of Caspian when asking if he had found a queen, it appeared to indicate that Lucy was again employing her hair caressing technique to make herself more beautiful/attractive/wanted by Caspian.
I don't think this scene was overtly "Luspian" nor do I think Lucy was completely absolutly not interested in Caspian at all. I don't think she had a "crush" on him but she was probably suddenly realizing he was rather handsome, older, and Kingly. And would naturally feel a bit shy and with that comes silliness for most teenage girls You don't have to have a crush on a guy to act a little awkward around him. When I was younger I used to be all giggly and weird around my older guy cousins who were pretty good looking.
Of course as the movie goes on she gets to know him again she obviously doesn't feel shy or uncomfortable with him.
"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring." Marilyn Monroe
Lucy is growing up and has decided that her looks aren't quite up to par as Susan's. Susan is off getting boys, and the young girl in the beginning had an adoring boy with her. From what happens with the beauty spell, Lucy wants to be noticed/appreciated, and so looks at those around her as a guide. Wanting to look like Susan, tucking her hair, etc.
It does seem as if she wants him to notice her, but it in a more general way. She's insecure, and wants his approval. Not his love. Or so it seemed to me.
I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but when at the end, when she's talking to Aslan, I believe when she was asking if she would see him again, she tucks her hair behind her ear again.
I just can't decide if it was something Georgie just happened to do or if they were trying to hint at something.
