Hi, DamselJillPole, nice to see you.
Whoever gets cast for Jill Pole will need to be able to act as a foil for Will Poulter as Eustace. I also think she will need to study Camilla Powers and the way she did Jill in the BBC Silver Chair.
Personally I thought Camilla Powers was one of the best actors of that series, along with Tom Baker as Puddleglum.
Here's a hint for any would-be Jills, who hope to improve their British accents.
And I mean it in the nicest, most helpful way I can manage.
I happened to notice on the script thread for SC over in GMD, which is now closed, that people were putting in their script dialogues, phrases like 'I sure am, or 'he sure is'. It would be a good idea to avoid such expressions whilst brushing up on your British accents. Such phrases and usage immediately stamp the American nationality of the English speaker concerned only too clearly.
Alternatives used elsewhere might include 'Yes, I am', or 'Indeed he is'. I'm sure that you can think of other ways of saying the same thing. A good idea is to watch movies made in UK and listen carefully to how they speak in such movies. Also, try an Australian or a New Zealand movie and hear how idioms are used, and how those accents contrast, as well as with an American or a British one.
This exercise might not ensure you snare a coveted UK acting role, but I think it will help your appreciation and understanding of the English language generally.
Hello, this is my first post on this site and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about auditions in Australia? If anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated
Hi jinx, we do not have any information about auditions in Australia. It is unlikely that they would be casting for this role outside England. However the film is not yet greenlit.
This thread is for discussing the character of Jill Pole, and established actresses who might play her.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

I think Jodelle Ferland could work. Is she too old? I don't know how young they will cast Jill Pole, but Will Poulter is born 1993.
The case with Jodelle is that she has a somewhat strange look which can give more weight to the fact that Jill is bullied.
So is there anything about Jill's personality that could be rally dynamic with Eustace's? How should Jill fit in? When should they become friends? What does Jill do to make these things happen? What is she thinking about Eustace?

Wow, Lucy of Narnia, those are hard ones to answer!
Since they apparently already know each other well in VDT (and I doubt in a good way), I think they should be buddies in SC, but not really friends. After all, Jill might've not forgiven Eustace yet for being horrible before, but she should accept him ok and notice that he's changed. And Eustace should definitely be nice to her, but still have the slight fear he's still like the brat he was in VDT.
As the two go on the journey to find Rillian, they both have issues (both having bad moments with their attitudes), but about the time they're entering the underworld, their friendship should take a turn and they strongly bond together. I'm not sure I know things like what Jill thinks of him later, what their characteristic differences result in, or how they become friends, but by the end, they're close friends (NOT boyfriend and girlfriend AT ALL).
Whew! That was long! My thoughts on this might change after we hopfully start learning more about the film, but I'm crossing my fingers it'll be something like that.
Good ideas, Shastafan!
This will be cool seeing who Jill really is if they make SC...

Jill should already be friends with Eustace and become a more loyal friend throughout the film

I agree lu_valient especially since VDT made it so obvious in the film that they possibly already have an established friendship. It would be funny if she dropped in for a visit only to yell at Eustace for something. It's possible!

Jill+Tirian! Let there be Jilrian!
Why do you think Jill was being bullied? I've pondered this question often and for some reason the name teasing just doesn't suit. What do you all think? Any good suggestions?

I am the Queen of Narnia against whom C. S. Lewis held a grudge and hence did not mention in his books.
I am in favor of a Jill/Tirian romance. After all, I know that it really did happen because I was there to see it when it did happen...
I really hope they explain why Jill would visit Eustace in the next movie. I personally think that maybe she was "forced" to visit him, but that could be totally off as far as I know. But one thing that should be shown is that the two disliked each other before Eustace went to Narnia. Unless Jill's as bad as Eustace is, she wouldn't be one to hang around him by free will. Whether they're friends or not at the start of SC, I'd really like an explanation about that. But as I've said before, what a great way for her to have been introduced to a changed Eustace.
Shastafan, Jill doesn't like Eustace at first because he is sort of a suck-up to the bullies, but not one himself. So maybe he doesn't get bullied because he goes along w/ their rules, which makes me think that perhaps our fiery Jill doesn't, and thus is bullied?

Hm, good point, but still, Eustace wasn't a nice person, and I'd suspect she wouldn't hang out with someone like him (the book says he had no friends). Yeah, he's a suck-up (I love your word there ), but he aslo was a brat, and until after Eustace changes for the better, it seems odd that she'd even dare to be with him.
Yeah...I wonder why she was visiting him??
