Solid examples bkey, though i would have to say the one difference between casting Jill Pole and casting other child actor roles is that Will Poulter is going to be at least 18 by the time they start casting, and probably going on 19 by the time they start shooting. Whoever they choose is pretty much going to have to match Will Poulter for age if they want to make it believable that they are the same age on screen, and when you get you get up towards that sort of age a lack of prior acting experience would definitely be a big negative against any prospective Jill.

I mean, when you are Georgie's age trying out for LWW they would never expect you to have any sort of acting experience, but if you are 17, 18, 19 and are genuinely a great actor then you would perhaps expect them to have at least had a few significant stage or TV roles under their belt and/or have studied acting at a distinguished drama school (both as with Laura Brent in VDT). I don't think its impossible that a complete unknown will get the role, but i think it may be tough for them to compete for a big budget movie alongside Will Poulter, who already has a very impressive acting CV to his name.

bkey: You completely misunderstood my point from above^^^^

Georgie H. knew for a fact that she could commit to acting when she went into the audition. I don't want them to cast some one who is only wanting to do so just for the sake of being a popular character in the Narnia series when they aren't a commited actor. I find it fair that the casting directors will scedule girls who are into an acting world, they don't have to come from movies but at least some training experience, otherwise someone who is not commited to acting will have a very rough time on set. And that is a given fact.

Even though she didn't have any acting jobs, she still took acting training and knew what was to come being on a set without family 24/7 from June-November. Imagine someone who is not exprienced, goes on this movie set for that long working 19 hours a day. They are going to be miserable, just to play a character that they thought would be fun in a non professional way. Crew members don't want whiners on their sets, not to be harsh, but it is true. They want hard workers, not just people who they think should look perfect for the role.

There is a girl out there somewhere right for the role who will be 100% commited to hard work.

Oh I agree that any actor should know what to expect before going in, but I think that anyone who would seriously audition for the role would know what to expect, regardless of their experience. Also, that's part of the casting process, to weed out those who wouldn't be able to take the job seriously or make the necessary commitments.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it on this board yet, but I agree with a post I saw on a different website, that Jill Pole should be played by Lucy Boynton. She has that feminine, spunky, fiesty look, in my opinion.
As for her relationship with Eustace, I don't think there should be any in The Silver Chair (though maybe he might like her, and she doesn't know it), but I do think one should start between them in The Last Battle. And the part I'm thinking of is when . Then they start to like eachother, but their forming relationship is cut short when , which, I think, would add even more of a dramatic effect in that part. But that's just my opinion. :)

^Lucy Boynton would be a very good choice. In this picture she looks a bit too cute then what I pictured as Jill though, more of a Polly for me. She also looks like Rachel Hurd Wood which makes me kind of cringe. :-s Still she's a pretty girl and could make a nice candidate for Jill. ;)

I still like Jessica Barden though

Just found this picture of Jessica. She's cute. Not the way I pictured Jill, but she's cute. She looks more modern to me, instead of the old-fashioned English look that they have in the Narnia movies. She's actually the way I originally pictured Susan looking, back when I first read the books, before LWW came out. :)

There's a picture of Jessica on her imdb page where she has darker hair and is older looking then when that photo was taken that really reminded me of Jill Pole.

Wow! She does look a lot like her there! Just like in Pauline Bayne's pictures! (aside from the funny expression on her face in that pic, haha.) :)

Ok, I honestly don't have a clue who any of these actresses are... Can you guys clue me in or something? I am totally lost here... :D

I Like: Your mischevious smile, your rather weird hair, your perverse mind, our occasional annoying conversations, the funny random noises you make, the burning touch of your fingetips on my skin, how you know most of the things on my mind...

Some good recent suggestions for actresses to play my favorite human character from our world: Jill Pole. :)

I think that if VDT is successful enough, it won't be long before the auditions will begin for this character. Or maybe I should say the search. ;) I think there should be open auditions and American girls should have a chance too if they can: A) Act and B) do the proper accent.

I'll bet thousands will be trying for this role. Actually, I think they should consider all English speaking countries for actresses. Nowadays you can do a video and e-mail it or post it or toast it! :-o B-)

New forum!!! And now back on topic.....
On the old forum people where hateing the idea of a curly Jill. Now I prefer wavy too but why the strong dislike of Jill with curls? Besides, the book mentions them

Curls, straight, or other? Once they choose the actress, that will be a question to deal with regarding the character of Jill.
