First look at Digory and Polly?

There are photos on the home page of the two child actors from yesterday's filming. Could they be Digory and Polly? What are your first thoughts?

He looks like a mini Edmund and she looks like she's 2-4 years older than he is. It looks more like a big sister/little brother situation.

I'd say they don't look right for the parts of Digory and Polly at all. But given how strange everything seems about this Narnia adaptation so far, who knows??

Love the period cars and the classic London bus though Grin

I'm not sure they look quite right from first looks, but I'm sure I'd get used to it if they are indeed Digory and Polly.

Seeing all these shots coming out is quite exciting. 🙂

That little dude looks more like a Eustace to me than a Digory.  But time will tell.

This is the journey
This is the trial
For the hero inside us all
I can hear adventure call
Here we go

If it's a London street in 1955,  WHY havent any of the men got HATS on?

Also, does this girl resemble any of the child actors we have heard of?

The height differences are immaterial, as a girl of  10-12 is often taller than a boy the same age (earlier puberty growth).

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

I saw this news break and had to finish school with my kids before I could comment. Priorities, you know? Silly

This set of pictures gives me serious flashbacks to the time we saw the first pictures of Georgie Henley and William Moseley (I think Anna Popplewell too, but I don't quite remember as distinctly). They were outside on set, squinting into the sun. It wasn't their best photo, and unfortunately it led to a LOT of very undeserved criticism I won't repeat here. Thankfully, over time, we all fell in love with them. I'm sure the same will be true here.  Smile

Since we don't know for sure if these are Digory and Polly, or perhaps stunt doubles, (or perhaps neither?) I'm going to comment generally with the assumption that these are intended to be the two lead roles.

I LIKE the apparent difference in age and height. To me, it immediately leans away from ANY applied romance that seeps into just about every single movie production in this day and age. Let them be friends! And Polly and Digory do NOT have to be a set age for the story to work. This is their only story (not counting Last Battle) and aside from their being kids, the age means nothing.

Interestingly enough, probable-Polly looks VERY similar to Pauline Baynes' rendering of the character in the book.

While probable-Digory isn't how I imagined him to be, I don't dislike his look. And I don't want to be mean here at all, but he's a very lonely boy in the book and casting a kiddo with this appearance doesn't take away from that at all.

Loving all the news that's coming out and looking forward to more soon!
