I'm sure everybody's seen the news story by now with the picture of Roy Billing as the Chief Dufflepud. What are your thoughts?
I also want to point out Tirian's comment in the news story in case you missed it....
I believe that the entire body and foot will be computer-generated. The faces are the only part of the actor that will be used. Roy Billing looks just like the concept art I saw last weekend.
... and Paul Martin's comment on Nfans....
I had seen photos of other Dufflepuds while on the set, and this photo kind of surprised me. The ones that I saw aren’t quite as dwarf-like as this. However, I only saw a few examples of them, so they might have been younger variations.
He looks very similar to Trumpkin. I wonder if they were using the Red Dwarfs for a template to start from. Do you think there will be a variety of hair colors or just red and black as I believe Coriakin said something along the lines of the dufflepuds were similar to Narnian dwarfs before they were "uglified".
I had kind of imagined that Chief Dufflepud would look alot more like Roy Billing's normal face than that. Not that it's necessarily bad (in fact there is something very familiar about him that i can't quite put my finger on) but its perhaps just a little "more" than i was expecting. Something not so wild and angry looking. Maybe something slighty, dare i say, "cuter", happier and perhaps somewhat lightly whimsical looking.
Perhaps given the slightly eccentric and "Tim Burton-esque" style of the Magician's Garden set, we perhaps should of expected the look of the Chief Dufflepud to be as equally eccentric, fantastical, and ever so slightly creepy as his garden set, rather than anything a little more reserved (or at least as reserved as you can get with a 1 legged, occasionally invisible dwarf-like creature )
Perhaps i was expecting something akin to the headshot in the middle of this concept art wall piece here from one of the PC Behind the Scenes videos from way back when. Ironically, it does actually looks quite a bit like Roy Billing's normal face, or at least i think so.
Here was the other fuzzy snapshot of concept art from the other Prince Caspian video. Though i'd imagine that these are so old now that they are no longer even close to being relevant:
The final dufflepud look is certainly better than the concept art one above here, which is almost as if they tried to go for a 100% "creature" design. He doesnt appear to be wearing any clothing, and seems to be covered in fur, i.e. more like a Satyr than a Dwarf. Would have been an interesting direction to explore, but im glad they didnt go for it, if that is indeed what it shows. Hard to tell.
I quite like the look. It isn't exactly what I had imagined, but it's not terribly different either. I think the hair sticking straight up on the head works well; it gives him a slightly off-appearance, as if all his gears aren't quite spinning correctly. It will be interesting to see if they end up making him completely CGI or just adding in the foot later. I'd prefer the later, unless they can do super amazing CGI.

Rest in Peace Old Narniaweb
(2003-2009)
At first I thought it looked cool, then I thought he looked just like Trumpkin, and now I'm thinking maybe a combination of the two. I love the hairstyle but I think he looks just like all the other dwarfs we've seen previously. Like icarus said, I was expecting (or maybe imagining) something a bit more whimsical and flat-out fairy-tale-ish. But since the legs have yet to be CGI-ed, and we've not seen what else they're going to do to the Duffers (perhaps nothing), I will calmly wait to reserve judgement until the final film.
(Edit: I will add that maybe NL101's avy made me like the look a little bit more )

I never saw it. I think I just missed out. Could someone please describe what they remember of it in detail?

Please don't go into in detail. The production asked us to remove the picture and a detailed description would defeat that.
A common factor in style would be the creature makeup of KNB Efx Group. Personally, I could not tell you one persons artistry from another - I'm a map geek and not an Efx geek. I suspect there are similarities in the same style from character to character.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

Everyone on this site is so kind to the studios. Lots of fans from other fantasy forums would kill for info to be leaked and they would try to send it to everyone to discuss it. Those fans want to know whats what and don't care about the studios attempts to hide the truth from fans.
I think this is one nice, though ocassionally frustrating, thing about Narniaweb.
Winter Is Coming
This situation reminds me somewhat of when the first picture of Two Face from The Dark Knight leaked online back in 2008, but was removed after a few hours after a WB request. Fans were going crazy requesting the pic as well as descriptions of the look. I think WB even went so far as to say that the picture was just a test and not the final look of the character (a claim that turned out to be untrue).
I personally really like the look of Chief Dufflepod. As many have said, it wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but then again, I'm not really sure how I had imagined the species. I'm looking forward to seeing them onscreen though, with, presumably, a CG body and foot.
Also, just from that one picture it seems to me that they may be taking a more serious approach to the Dufflepods, making them *seem* more menacing and threatening than they come off in the book. Does anyone else pick that vibe up?

I see how you got that feeling, but to me it seemed more of the actor's facial expression and pose then the costume (which is the only real thing we can judge from the picture, and even that I'm not sure about being shown in the final film). And, I'm pretty certain this was a posed picture, not a picture caught during an actual scene.
I can see the hair as helping to add to a "fierce" Duffer look, yet I can see it just as well adding to the eccentricity and absurdness of them, depending on where they go with it. But, I don't know; I do really hope they don't go for a menacing feel.
I do really like the look; wasn't what I was expecting, but I didn't have a distinct visual, either. I wish he had a red cap though (not a real issue, just would have been a nice nod).

Apart from legality, respect, good manners, and wanting to get on well with the producers, it is in our interest to remove items when requested. If something is revealed too early, incomplete, or incorrect, it could cause people to report on it negatively to their friends, which would flow on to affect the Box Office. And as you know, that would affect the likelihood of the next film being made.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
I liked how he looked. He did look a bit like Trumpkin but it's not like they're going to have all the dufflepuds look the same- an army of Trumpkin klones . Once the producers add the big foot people will be looking at that, not the color or style of his hair and whatnot and how similar it is too Trumpkin...
I get the impression they're making them look more scary. I mean, the film was called 'The Invisible Army' while it was being filmed. Also they keep saying it's going to be one of the threats to their voyage so perhaps the play up that part of the story a lot. Can't wait to see it!!!

in the book, the Duffelpuds were once Dwarves, so making them look a bit like dwarves is all right with me! I like the look!
I think they are going to just CGI his legs.....
