Adrian Brophy's face looks very suitable.
I have tended to think of Alan Rickman because he does such good deadpan faces - yet I've seen him very lively in a stage play.
A well known name is definitely crucial here; as Icarus suggested this is needed to carry the movie with two lesser-known child actors as the other two leads. (Probably a known actor to play LOTGK too)
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

^^ who's Alan Rickman? do you have a picture of him you can post?

Alan Rickman is possibly most famous for playing the part of Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, Liberty. Here's a couple of shots of him:

I like Stephen Merchant a lot! He has the right features and body proportions. I think he can pull off a great voice too! As for Adrien Brody, he's one of my favorite actors, but I really can't see him as Puddleglum. And Alan Rickman, hmmm.... Great voice, but yeah, I don't think he looks quite right for the part. O my, I would be devastated if Puddleglum was CGI!!! That seems so unnecessary!
I don't know why but I really want to see Johnny Depp in the role for puddleglum. I know he is a very well known actor and all but I can see him doing it perfectly. I thought about this while I saw him in the role of Mad Hatter last night in Alice in Wonderland. He has this certain characteristic that's perfect for Puddleglum.

That's an interesting thought.... but I can't see it at all! Johnny Depp is good at playing very weird characters. And yes, while Puddleglum is quite odd, he has a heartwarming and endearing quality that I don't think Johnny Depp can convey too well. While he certainly is fun to watch, I guess I just never emotionally connect with his performances. Plus I think his features are all wrong. Johnny Depp is a wonderful character actor in certain aspects, but so is Robert Downey Jr.... and I'm pretty sure we don't want him to play puddleglum.
Pardon me NolanFilm but it is a fact that Johnny Depp is the best actor in this world and that Hollywood has ever seen who can take on different characters both good and bad, quirky and smart, etc. The list goes on. In my opinion he would be best for Puddleglum.
Johnny is tall and slender, features won't matter because he'll probably be plastered with green makeup or what not.

Eh, I wouldn't want to see Johnny Depp in the role. He certainly has the range to pull it off, but he's way too recognizable and I feel would actually take me out of the movie more so than it would engross me in it.
Johnny Depp is just that kind of an actor bkey. sure he is recognizable but he always steps into the kind of roles that no one expects him to do. I can understand getting unknowns for Rilian, Jill, Eustace, and Tirian. Puddleglum is just that character that needs to be right and I feel Johnny Depp can do it better then others. Again it's my opinion. In the end he is an actor who is a random picker for characters to play.

Actually, that's an opinion
While I don't deny that Johnny Depp would be fully qualified in talant to play Puddleglum, I do agree that he's a bit too famous. He's known for playing eccentric, odd, or quirky characters, and I think the actor for Puddleglum shouldn't be the obvious choice anymore then it would be the most famous one. It'd be like Nicole Kidman or Angelica Houston playing the White Witch. Johnny Depp is also a huge personality, and I feel like he might "take over" the movie if he was to play Puddleglum. He's certainly an amazing actor, but I don't know if he's right for the Silver Chair.

Johnny Depp is definitely unique and extremely talented. I just personally can't see it. Sorry if I sounded mean. If that's how you see Puddleglum, then great!
Moving on, I found a very interesting actor. Peter Mayhew (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0562679/). Chances are you've seen him playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars films. Now, while he's pretty old and has little acting experience (outside of Star Wars), I personally think he looks just like Puddleglum. I just love his look! Check out this video at 0:53 and see for yourself. Please tell me what you think about his marshwiggle appearance!
Yet another Puddleglum casting thread!
I veto Johnny Depp. He's excellent, I love him, but I don't love him enough to hand him Puddleglum's role. Not that.
Alan Rickman...what a surprising choice, though I don't know why. He'd be great for the role, though I never imagined Puddleglum having his voice. I like that choice.
Peter Mayhew looks good, though I've never seen him in anything (nope, not even Star Wars).
Overall, I'm rather meh on it right now, simply because the door is wide open to so many possibilities, and I really don't know how I'd like it just yet.
I don't think that casting Johnny Depp as Puddleglum would be such a good idea. The whole move would suddenly be about his role and not about the story of Narnia (just like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, great move, but was just about The Mad Hatter because Johnny Depp was portraying him). I think that, if someone that they cast would be faimous, it would be either Rilian or the (sorry for this but I don't really know her name because I haven't read the book in english ) the queen that kidnapps Rilian. It would make a better move that way, with three unkown actors portraying the maincarachters
^ I agree with Carnessiir. (Welcome to NarniaWeb, by the way! ) I think that Puddleglum shouldn't be very well-known, but it actually wouldn't hurt if Rilian and/or the Lady of the Green Kirtle were somewhat famous.
I really like Peter Mayhew as a choice, although I'm not firmly decided on who I want to play Puddleglum. As long as they're glum, I'll most likely be fine with it!
Edit: I also agree with fantasia_kitty on the first page - I also hear Marvin the Robot's voice (from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) as Puddleglum's! I've never even thought of that, but that voice would be perfect!
