Good choices. As cool as he is, I think Jeremy Irons has such a distinct voice and is tied up very much with a certain other, nasty, lion, that I just couldn't see that one working! š
I love the idea of Richard Armitage (not only is he Thorin in āthe Hobbitā, heās also Mr. Thornton in BBCās āNorth and Southā). He has so much depth and range!Ā
Also Benedict Cumberbatch. He has all the range. He does such a wonderful job with all his characters A Beautiful Mind comes to mind alongside The Grinch and The Hobbit.Ā
Adam Driver is not a bad idea either.Ā
I donāt know about Driver, but Iām pretty sure the other two can sing.Ā
Mark Harmon came to mind too. His portrayal of Agent Gibbs on NCIS has some of the different aspects of Aslan mentioned. His voice would need to be made a little more animalistic, as with just about anyone to give it the wild aspect.
I could also definitely see a lesser known actor being cast.Ā
also, a hopeful thought with Meryl Streep in talks, perhaps they are doing a multi actor layering of voices. It is the one hope Iām holding.Ā
"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." ~C. S. Lewis
I've heard the name Idris Elba mentioned as another candidate. Now this is a hard-working, relatively young, British actor/singer, given a chance to shine through the Prince's Trust, who might be ideal to play Aslan.Ā
