@jo He loved reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe when he was in elementary school. He's also grown up with my childhood stuffed animal lion Aslan 😍
Wrong will be right when Aslan comes in sight / At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more / When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death / And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again
Wow, it's been so long! I'm pretty sure this is my first day posting on the new forums. For those who don't remember me, I was a "regular" on the old forums. Thought I would stop by and see how everyone's doing, now that new Narnia movie news is coming out.
P.S. Does NarniaWeb still have a chat room?

Wow, welcome back to NarniaWeb Forum, @lucy85! Time flies!
And hi Ithie! It's a blast from the past seeing your avatar on the new forum!
P.S. Does NarniaWeb still have a chat room?
We don't have a chat room on the forum, but we do have a Discord channel for our Patreon supporters at the Friend of NarniaWeb tier and higher. (We don't have have any ads on NarniaWeb and are completely run by volunteers, so it helps keep the lights on!)

I doubt I’ll be familiar to anyone as I wasn’t super active in the first place, more of a lurker than a participant lol, but with all the discussion going on these days I became interested in returning to the forums to see what’s up and possibly join in the community a little more this time. Hello all! 👋
*pokes head in*
Hey everyone! It has been entirely too long since I last said hi!

Wolfy!
@wolfloversk Very good to see you back here on NWeb.

Nice to see you back, Wolfie,
I will admit I haven't been around here much lately. Part of it is all the news that has been coming out about the new film adaptation, which is making me slowly come to terms with the fact that it simply isn't going to be meant for me. That said, my more recent silence around the issue has been my attempt at not spreading negativity around the forum for the people who are putting a braver face on things than I am. Maybe I'll still come around on things even if I believe that Greta is doing the opposite of what she said she'd do (treat the source material with reverence and respect). Sorry if this comes off as attention-seeking, just wanted to be honest about where I'm at.
This is the journey
This is the trial

I can hear adventure call
Here we go
@glenwit It doesn't come across as attention-seeking at all, don't worry. I think most people here are at best uncomfortable with the changes we've heard about so far, and many are anything from deeply disappointed to downright outraged. It does look like Gerwig is being the opposite of respectful to the source material, which goes against all the things she originally said or alluded to, and that's a big let-down for the majority of Narnia fans.
I still want to see the movie at least once so that I know for sure what I'm criticising before I pass any final judgment, but I'm becoming less and less hopeful that I'll be able to accept it as a genuine adaptation of Narnia.
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."

@glenwit It's quite alright. With all the news that has been coming out, I'm kind of mixed about it.
As @courtenay said, I will also still go see the film and judge for myself.
Even if it doesn't live to our expectations, we still have the radio drama adaptation from Focus on the Family. I know it's not quite the same as seeing it visually done, but I think it's the only faithful adaptation of Narnia we'll have.

Er, the BBC TV adaptations (and indeed the BBC Radio ones), plus the 1978 film of LWW, and at least some aspects of the Walden movies, would like a word.
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."

@courtenay That’s true. Even then, just about every adaption of Narnia we had so far had some aspects of faithfulness, even though some tweaks or additions were made.
I should have clarify that I was referring to the upcoming screen adaptation of MN. So even if it doesn’t turned out to be as faithful as we’d hope, at least we’d still have the Focus on the Family radio theater adaptation of MN. So even though we never had it on screen before, it’s not like it’s never been adapted before.
Then of course, this is getting off topic.
"And this is the marvel of marvels, that he called me beloved."

Today I fly off to spend some time in UK. It's at least 24 hours flying, and I hope I can enjoy the entertainment, read, do puzzles, and sleep in comfort. New Zealand to London is halfway round the world.
I'll be back on line once I've arrived in London. I'm heading north after the weekend, to see friends and family, before 7 weeks working on a Christmas show. [wish I could be telling you that I'd be working on the Narnia film but I'm not!!

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
[wish I could be telling you that I'd be working on the Narnia film but I'm not!!

Of course, that's just what you would say if you were working on it and were sworn to secrecy...
(No, seriously, if you were working on it, I think we’d all have a lot more confidence that it would be a good and faithful adaptation of Narnia!)
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
