Just published my first book of the event; 27 volumes and 48 nibs. I forgot Gnawbel rewards were doubling in the event so that was nice. Took me just over a day of hunting to get from 0 to 27 so I feel good about being able to get everything in TOC I need quickly; then it's figuring out how to wrap up the other areas (didn't think to farm resources beforehand, unfortunately, so I have a aways to go for the Rainbow Quill).
ALMOST debating if I just forgo hunting resources for the Quill until after the event so I can just spam TOC for Nibs and Gnawbels (which = Paper), BUT the new area comes out right after the event ends and I'll want the Quill for that, so probably not a good use of time.
I am laughing at the irony. I've never had the best time in this area, but it was a simple, quick area so I just did what I needed to do and then moved on. The furthest I got before today was Encyclopedia Vol. 19.
But today the DLU kicked in. I don't get much DLU these days, but I am currently about to wrap up Encyclopedia Vol. 39 with several hunts still to go. I have 120 nibs from my run so far. I should also mention that I felt this was an appropriate place to bust out the Ultimate Charms as I have quite a few, and I'm making very good use of them here! No fear on not finishing up the Rainbow Nib before the Farm to Table event ends. I will need to spend a lot of time at the Pond as I'm low on Ink and Pennies.
Haha nice! My best volume ever is 38 volumes and that was done a LONG time ago. Gotta love when random DLU strikes like that, right? And using UC in high volumes is absolutely the strategy since I think nibs are a 100% drop once you get past 20 volumes.Â
I'm on my third TOC run of the event and I'm definitely not doing anywhere near as well as my first one, haha. Still under 100 nibs. But the good news is, I've been hunting Coins/Pennies overnight or when I'm not in a good place to be watching my horn towards the end of a TOC run and I'm very far along on getting the ones I need. Provided that DHU doesn't hit, I expect to have my Rainbow Quill in the first week of the event and then I can use the second week to just stockpile supplies for the various areas as well as earning/buying Printing Paper while I'm at it.
I've never gotten beyond 19. How?!!!
Full upgrades, running the best setups we have, and honestly, a lot of luck. You can't control how many Mythweavers you attract so sometimes you can have the best catch rate and still not get very far because you're not getting those high volume hunts in (that also earn you back more hunts).
The only thing that has changed recently from the regular strategy from way back is that now that there is Thousand Draft Derby, you can do your first hunt with that cheese (either using an Ultimate Charm to save hunts, or Baitkeep to save cheese, but you might have to retreat and try a few times until you actually catch him) so you can get all the way to Vol 1 in one hunt, which buys you more time with the Mythweaver available. But you don't want to keep hunting with TDD because you'll never gain more hunts, only lose, so you probably will not get as far as you could otherwise.
I did read something today that with the Rainbow Quill, if you hunt with Ultimate Charms and TDD, you're guaranteed Vol 43 every time...that would be an EXPENSIVE run, but wow! Probably a good strategy to use during LNY so you can triple those high drops.
Snagged the Mythweaver's Guide to World Domination this morning. Now I have to decide what I want to do next.Â
ETA: On the map of the new areas being added that if you zoom way in, you can see "Franco's Shoppe." I thought that was a very kind and sweet nod to Franco who passed away a couple months ago. Franco's Shoppe was a running joke from waaaay back in the day of items that were too crazy or silly that they'd never actually put them in the game (like if you use a Franco charm to catch a mouse and FTCed the mouse, you'd lose all your gold...things like that). Anyways, just wanted to point that out.Â
Nice! I'd stock up on Nibs if I were you; the Inkwell in the shop gives a lot of nice stuff including some things for the new area; so sort of easy pre-hunting. That and farm whatever you can to buy Printing Paper since I'm sure it'll be needed in the new area.
And aww, I hadn't seen that in the new area yet. RIP Franco.
I don't have my Quill or map piece yet; I've been getting some terrible DHU on my TOC runs since my first one, haha. I'm on my 5th and I'm guessing I'll probably need one more but we'll see. My goal is to have it by Sunday or Monday morning.
Well right after I complained about my 5th run not going to plan, I got a lot more Mythweaver catches in the second half and was able to get my Quill around volume...29 or so? Ended up being able to milk it all the way to Volume 52; so definitely my best run by a long shot. Going to enjoy going right back in with my new abilities; hoping to farm quite a lot of Nibs the rest of this week. My limiting factor may end up being Thousandth Draft Derby; I'm down to less than 20 pieces; so we'll see if I can figure out how to get some more before the event is over.

Interestingly enough I was thinking the same thing. Kilobyte Processors is really what I want more than anything, but I'm almost out of cheese. I decided to crack open a group map and sent out invites, but I'm guessing most people won't be interested in doing this while the event is ongoing. I totally forgot how hard this map is. Not wasting it though. It's expensive!
Nice! I'll see if I can hop on later but I definitely want to prioritize the event as much as possible. I have plenty of Kilohertz Processors (thanks, LNY; I have enough to basically get me full aura through next LNY) but I mainly wanted to make sure I didn't run out of TDD because of the way it maximizes efficiency in TOC runs at the beginning and end; but I can also do without it. I'll definitely have to make sure I re-stock up before next LNY, of course. The eventual goal would be to farm enough to get you a full year's aura each LNY; probably a lot more doable now that we can get higher volumes more frequently and we can loot TDD from the Birthday event each year. But that's obviously a stretch goal; I think you only need like 3 or 4k in Processors to have enough aura to basically get you as much as you want in areas where you need it.
I am really loving the Rainbow Quill in TOD...it's nice to break 20 volumes easily on a "bad" run.
Great end to the event! Late last week/early this week I was able to get my highest Ency volume into the 70's (highest I'd done by FAR) and then my second-to-last run started out meh but got good towards the end; I switched to Ultimate charms around volume 60 or so and ended up being able to get as high as 98; so close to 100! I'm in the top 175 of all hunters and top 20 of my friends so I think that's the highest I've ever been on any scoreboard 😀Â
Now the new area is open and definitely feels very deja vu with the Beanstalk and Sunken City; hard to get a feel for how "fast" it will go but so far I'm just spending time catching new mice and then I'll make sure I at least bronze crown the standard bait mice before I really try and focus on good runs.Â
Now the new area is open and definitely feels very deja vu
To me if feels deja vu to the Farm and Pond. Just a precursor for the upcoming Conclusion Cliffs, and therefore not very labor intensive. I think it'll be a quick in and out. 🙂Â
I really like the entirety of the Folklore Forest area, from the creativity, to the puns, to the fantasy and fairy tale nods. It's a lot of fun. Â
Congrats on your Super Encyclopedia @Gymfan15 !
I think you're right on the Farm/Pond comparisons, at least as far as the intention of the area goes. I was thinking more in terms of actual gameplay mechanics, but it's definitely a lot quicker than I was thinking. I was able to finish the Acres Adventure yesterday, and I've just crafted my first Robust Barrel and am hunting with full Sirene cheese, so I expect to finish the Falls Adventure today. And then back to resource farming!
I need some gameplay help.Â
Mice I am still missing not counting the two new sections:
Cheat Sheet Conjurer
Mutated Mole
Bases I'm missing:
both dragon bases
Traps I'm Missing:
the highest dragon trap
legendary king bot
Infinite dark mirrors
A way to maintain a better collection of condensed creativity
A better way to get gold so I can buy some of the stuff I keep missing. I don't have a lot in stores to sell left.Â
Help?
Gold: It's typically always recommended nowadays to hunt in the highest ranked areas you can in order to gain gold; there's no longer a specific "place" that gives more gold over others, as far as I know. That being said, if hunting in the highest ranked area means you feel like you're using a lot of expensive resources and can't afford not to (i.e. turn off CC or not convert cheese with the SB+ conversion); then drop down to the next highest level where you have sufficient resources to hunt without it being too expensive. For me, I can hunt the Blue/Green/Red zones in Draconic Depths without CC and build resources and gold at the same time, but it'll be different for everyone. It just takes time...I find visually that it helps to buy 30mil in Gouda or Swiss every time I get over that amount, so that way I can see my "bank" grow and have smaller goals to work towards vs one huge amount.
CC is a hard one; I do end up having to buy a lot. Draconic Depths has a way to buy it with resources but that's only good once you have all the traps and things that you need Opals for. I think I read that hunting in Table of Contents nets you a decent amount of CC as drops but I don't know if it's good enough to get you a net positive.Â
For missing mice or traps, I like to reference the MHWiki ( https://mhwiki.hitgrab.com/) or this set of tools ( https://tsitu.github.io/MH-Tools/index.html) for quick ways to find where mice are located and what is required to catch them.
For general gameplay advice, honestly, I'm a huge fan of the MouseHunt Discord: https://www.mousehuntgame.com/discord.php I know it's not for everyone, but it has been really helpful for me, especially when it comes to figuring out new areas or events efficiently.Â
