Indeed, @col-klink! Branagh read most of the book in a rather bored and bland way, whether narrative or conversational. Eyebrow This was a big let-down, as there is not a film in which I have seen Branagh that I have not appreciated his talent.

However, I quite enjoyed Michael York's reading of LWW, at least compared to TMN, although his White Witch interpretation could have been more evilly-executed, yes, @Courtenay.

I am now listening to THaHB by Alex Jennings, who seems to have captured characters and atmosphere well, thus far. However, I have not yet finished chapter one, so shall see how his reading of this beloved tale progresses. Smile

@jo Ah, Alex Jennings — thanks, I'd forgotten who narrated that one (I listened to it some years ago but don't now have a copy). As far as I remember, he did a really good job and I didn't have any complaints about the delivery or the accents or anything, so I hope you enjoy it too.

"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."

I noticed this today on Audible.com and thought immediately of this thread.

I’m listening to the Focus on the Family Narnia again. I think it is the most wonderful audio book ever made. I would encourage people to listen to this audio drama over again to enjoy the experience. I don’t know if Narnia will ever be adapted for audio again, but it would be hard to do better than this one.

@jo - One good thing about Branagh's boring reading of MN - it helps put my 8 year old daughter to sleep! Giggle That said, overall, I must say I was disappointed in his performance too - not at all like his acting.

@narnian78, I also have been re-listening to the Focus on the Family Narnia radio theatre productions recently and playing them to some of the clients and participants I support, whilst driving around.  They have been received quite well - and I observed that the LWW had a calming effect on a non-verbal autistic teenager I support when driving for a couple of hours the other day (as we couldn't go for any walks due to wet weather).
