Thanks, everyone! Yesterday was a good day, including grilled bratwurst and a chocolate Oreo cake courtesy of Rya's mother. I thought about an evening campfire but the weather wasn't quite cooperative. I did, however, have an evening viewing of the Chinese Tiangong space station.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Wishing you a very lovely birthday, @Courtenay!
And since I see you enjoy cross-stitch, how is this for a cake?! I did a bit of research on this creation, because I honestly was not sure if it was cross-stitched or a real cake. Turns out it really is a cake!

Oh wow, @jo, that cake is fabulous!!!
If all that decoration is real icing, it's incredibly intricate (and even if it's just a printed wrapper around a real cake, it's beautiful). Many thanks to you and @snowangel and all the lovely people here on NarniaWeb. It really is a wonderful community here.
I'm having a treat for my birthday this year (which I don't always manage to do) — I'm spending a week in Northumberland, in the far north-east of England, right up by the border of Scotland. It's one of the quietest and most rural counties of England, with a beautiful coastline and fascinating history — lots of castles, Hadrian's Wall, ancient Christian holy sites, and more. Oh yes, and one of the biggest second hand bookshops in the UK (Barter Books, in Alnwick, where I'll be going some time in the next few days).
In the meantime, this afternoon I spent some of my birthday money in a charming little wool / fabric / crafts shop in Amble, the seaside village where I'm staying... and I only bought three cross stitch kits (as if I didn't already have one on the go, which I've brought with me, and a huge backlog waiting for me at home). After all, I figure, it's my birthday and I'll buy what I want to.

Happy birthday to my Narniaweb sister, @Courtenay. I wish we could be spending the day having tea, if we weren’t too far from each other.

@courtenay the village looks very pretty! I'm glad you are giving yourself a real treat for this birthday. I haven't been quite that far since my one visit to Newcastle and then onto Scotland, many years ago. No doubt you're keeping warm and getting some walks in. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
