Thanks for the warning on lightning, FK. I don't plan to take a shower during a thunderstorm anytime soon. It won't rain very much this month, even though we need it to break the 80s and 90s heat! I watched an episode of "Angry Planet" this morning on the fires in Australia. Intense. :(

Amazing ... that quadruple tornado rainbow! ;) ;)) B-)

*hands stargazer and other allergy sufferers boxes of tissue* That's something about that hail, 'gazer!

The snow I posted about up above was our last sight of it (April 23). And this weekend is going to be ... hot and humid :-q , including today. Nasty stuff. About 30°C/86F without the humidity. Blech! :P There is a chance of thundershowers each day, and this increases towards Sunday evening into Monday, at which point much cooler air will be ushered in. I think next Wednesday's high is only going to be 12C/nearly 54F. Yay! I miss my walks when the temperature is anywhere above 15C/59F or so. ;;)

Just in the past few days, the trees have burst forth in their blossoms and leaves. It's very pretty (if it weren't so warm :p). Actually, humidity this time of year is short-lived, so that's one consolation. Two years ago this weekend I distinctly remember having snow fall, so go figure. ;))

Nope, I sure wouldn't get a shower in a thunderstorm, yikes! Stay safe, 220!

From what I hear, fantasia, your area may be right in the middle of potentially severe weather for a few days. You stay safe too!

No thunder showers but we got a wee (.34 inches) bit of rain yesterday. So far almost 2 inches above normal. And the rain did a most welcome thing for my drive to work; instant gusty-winds dust eliminator while driving past dry & dusty dairy farms. :D

Today's weather seemed to have something for just about everyone, from severe storms and tornadoes in the US South to about 2 feet of snow in Rapid City.

Here was a nearly perfect spring day (except for the pollen), so we enjoyed another fire that wasn't interrupted by storms. But clouds moved in later at night with a cold front that will bring lots of rain this week and nightly lows around 38F/3C. That's getting close to snow-making weather. ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

You forgot tropical storm Ana in the Carolinas Gazer. ;)

Well, I think we only had two tornado warnings here at my house this past week. The first one wasn't necessary as the cell it dropped from was well past us. The second was kind of heading our way, but it was still 8 miles away and it was just a bitty thing. We didn't stay in our basement long with either.

We have a two day reprieve from storms so I'm hoping things can dry out really well and then we're expecting another round. The good thing is that the Kansas drought map is diminishing rapidly. Thank God for that. It's been pretty awful here the last few years.

You're right; I'd been watching the Ana news but failed to mention it here.

Saturday was an absolutely glorious spring day here, so we had a campfire (uninterrupted by hail this time). Sunday brought rain - lots of it - so I think our drought map will shrink too. Now it's very windy and almost cool - the northern part of Minnesota received some snow the past few days, another reminder that there are still 16 days left in our snow season. :)

We're past the average last frost date but it will be a close call tonight, especially if the wind goes down, as the forecast low is 38F/3C.

Yay for welcome rain, Glimmie! :D

Sounds lovely, stargazer. We, too, are dropping tonight to just a few degrees above freezing. I'm bringing in the few plants I have so far that might get frost-bitten. :-s The past four days were so hot and humid it was ridiculous, but with some great thunderstorms last night, much more enjoyable air returned: the temps dropped from 30C/86F (+humidity) to 12C/53F today. Loving this change! The forecast is increasing humidity by Sunday. Lovely. :P Until then, though, very pleasant. :)

Lots of heavy rain in my corner of the world yesterday. The final total near my house once the storms moved through was about 3.5". :-o That's downright unheard of in this part of the world. I know there was lots of local flooding, but I wasn't home and missed it. ;))

Well, we had quite the downpour too, but not nearly so much as you had, f_kitty. No flooding so far, though it certainly brought the level of the river up quickly. It was doubly welcome as it broke a prolonged spell of heat and dryness. And we all knew it was coming beforehand. After all, it's rodeo weekend.

What a difference 12 hours or so makes. Yesterday evening was warm and quite humid (especially for this time of year) with the heat index well into the 90s F.

A big cold front blew through here in the evening, with brief but heavy rain. Now it's about 40F with brisk north winds that make the windchill close to freezing. Quite an improvement, if you ask me. ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Looks like everyone is getting wet. We had about 2.5 inches ourselves here. Add to that the drop in temps by about 25 degrees F, it's almost fall weather. Latest news report has frost warnings for mid-Minnesota.

It is cool here, Down South. Fog this morning and light rain. They say there is going to be an El Nino by spring and dangerous drought conditions. But since mid April, Sydney has had torrential rain, which caused a lot of damage, and since then, frequent showers. On 15th April we (daughter and myself) left for Athens, Greece. The weather there was lovely. We went to Istanbul, but the second day we were there the weather turned really cold, and wet, the result of a northerly wind. We froze in the Topkapi Palace.

Later on, the weather cleared up, thankfully, but remained coolish despite it being spring in Turkey. The tulips planted everywhere there looked lovely, anyway. To think there was a swimming pool on board ship. 8-| . It was interesting seeing the trenches at Gallipoli, the memorials and hearing the explanations for events there. We could hear the rehearsals for the main events when we visited on the 23rd April, a couple of days beforehand. Especially the beaches at Anzac Cove made a lot clearer to me, as unlike sandy and sometimes pristine white Australian beaches, these were pebbly. There is a lot of marble in that part of the world, which is horrible to walk on. Did you know that Troy, Homer's famous city, is on the opposite bank of the Dardanelles from Gelibolu (Gallipoli) at Canakkale? We attended a shipboard Dawn Service on 25th April and watched the main one beamed by satellite in the cosy ship's theatre as a continuation of it.

It was still raining when we got home again at the end of April. And it is raining again now, a fortnight later.

Today I am wearing a jacket... at the end of May. So weird.

And we also continue to have rain here. We got another half inch overnight last night (I didn't even know it rained, my husband happened to be up and told met his morning.) I guess we have a break in the rain now until Friday when it's supposed to pick up again with loads of chances over the next several days.

Feeling bad for California as their drought is severe, but thankful for all the rain here right now. Our drought map is becoming non-existent. :D

I wish we could send some of our rain to California. Ok... at this point... all of it for about the next week. I'm thankful for the rain, but I am very very tired of the mud. It's deep enough in places that it's a good 12in deep. Not safe. Not pleasant to walk through or stand in.

After the drought of 2011, I've been determined not to be anything less than thankful for the rain. But when it's been raining fairly regularly since Spring started and we're expecting another 60 - 90% chance of rain for two days in a row and the mud is already this deep...

Also figured out my blue mood due to lack of sun has kicked back in. Used to only take about 4 days. This time around it's more mild and harder to tell. So I'm thankful.

I'm ready for some sunnier days... even if they come with 95F+ days.

Another point to be thankful for with all the rain: We've not yet reached 90F this year.

Edit 5-27-15:
Can it stop raining now? At least for about a month? I think we've had about a good foot in the last 24-36 hrs.

I've been watching the coverage of those extraordinary rains in Texas. Amazing! Hopefully you'll get a chance to dry out soon.

We've had some rain here the past week, though nothing like that in the South. Temps have risen to about 85F/29C, which is warm for this time of year. I imagine the mosquitoes will start swarming soon...

The latest Drought Monitor still has us in a moderate drought but it's some improvement over the past week.
