We'll look around for episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures and the Eighth Doctor's movie, and then probably move into the new era of the Doctor (I'm currently early in the Peter Capaldi era in my own viewing).

I can vouch for The Sarah Jane Adventures, I've got all five seasons on DVD, and in my opinion it taps into that family friendly feel that the classic Doctor Who had.  IMO the more modern Doctor Who felt a bit more "grown up" (for want of a better description) and although still mostly family friendly, I think it is a bit less child-friendly at times.  Whereas I think TSJA can be more easily enjoyed by a younger audience.  I tend to pull out the DVDs when I want to watch a bit of light Doctor Who.  Although that said - even some of TSJA episodes can be a bit darker and scary for some kids too, I would think. Hmmm

Also - regarding Peter Capaldi, I feel he reminded me a bit of Tom Baker of old. Giggle

I always thought that Paul McGann, the eighth Doctor, didn’t get enough television time.  He was certainly a good Doctor Who, and he did some audiobooks, but we never saw that much of him on screen except for the 1996 movie and the anniversary special. It was kind of unfortunate for him just as it was sad that Doctor Who was cancelled during Sylvester McCoy’s time in the role. Colin Baker also had his time cut short, which was a difficult thing for an actor, although he was also able to return on audio.

I actually like classic Doctor Who better than the new series since it is more old fashioned.  I have enjoyed some episodes of the new series (e.g. especially those with David Tennant and Matt Smith), but the old one is more in my taste. I tend to prefer antique science fiction since I am old fashioned.  🙂

@Pete, I agree that modern Who is a bit more grown up than classic. It appears my only option to view TSJA is to purchase the DVDs online. I may consider that in the future.

@Narnian78, I enjoyed classic Who and understand its attraction as compared to the new (which has a lot of episodes I also really like). For me, it's sort of like Star Trek.  I've watched all the episodes of the series that were on broadcast TV (but none of the newer streaming-only ones). The newer series have a lot of great episodes and look so much nicer than the original series, but I still like to watch the original episodes from time to time.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
