Help me out here @icarus and @impending-doom.

Who are the confirmed and/or suspected vocal actors for the talking beasts of Narnia? What roles have they been confirmed for (if any)? I'd love to have list in one place because all of a sudden there are quite a few actors and actresses that have been announced and I'm just trying to keep everybody straight. {ym}:pig: {ym}:cow: {ym}:monkey: {ym}:puppyeyes: Thanks!

NarniaWeb reported on these two being cast a while back but no mention of what role they were going to play. Is it possible this is our Frank and Helen based on their names specifically being listed in the top 10 released by Netflix?

All but confirmed by Mark Gordon that Narnia will be PG.

He also confirmed that it's just "Narnia" as we've been wondering about for a while now.

Neither come as much as a surprise to me at this point. Glad for a PG rating for MN as there's a tendency to make stories darker than necessary. Though I am hoping for a PG13 for LB if we ever get there.

Lewis As A Scholar and Pagan Narnia

I am new to the forum, but I have been on this site since it began. I grew up reading the books, multiple times over. I was a Christian that fell in love with Aslan... More than Jesus. I know I might get a lot of hate here for even suggesting that there is paganism in a positive light in the Narnia books, but I truly think that if people looked beyond the allegory that Lewis very much had a deep love and appreciation of pagan beliefs, myths and lore. That even I can see the beauty and genius of storytelling in Aslan's sacrifice. That the lore and myth of Jesus is in itself beautiful, I know that even as a pagan.

I am not here to get evangelized to or berated. I am looking for others who have the ability to look at Narnia as a whole and be scholars with me. I am not suggesting taking Christianity out of it in place of paganism, but that perhaps there is a marriage, love and appreciation between the two.

I have found so think pieces online, but none that delve really deep into the idea. I am curious what others think of this idea.

Just to clarify, I am not on the White Witch's side, it's silly but I feel like I need to make that clear.

This could all be mere coincidence and come to nothing, but it feels like there's something interesting on with Narnia and Harry Potter being released at the same time. In the case of Harry Potter, there is a trailer and the cast has all been announced ... except for Voldemort. Last week, it was reported that Tilda Swinton may be considered for the role:

Could it be that the two projects are gender-swapping famous roles and will each create a significant buzz/controversy for doing so?

What do you think of the Narnia logo?

So my first reaction to seeing the logo yesterday, is that to me it looks intentionally incomplete... probably so it could be put on the back of a director's chair. I suspect it will be a good deal more dressed up for the official film.

My second thought is that it looks (and I'm not quite sure if this is the best word to use) organic? Like the hills of Narnia springing to life as Aslan is singing?

What do you all think?

Other roles for Meryl

I know most of the discussion has been on whether Meryl will voice Aslan, and some others have suggested she'd be better for Aunt Letty (which I agree with), but what other options might exist? Bear in mind that Greta seems to be adding in a lot of material that isn't from the book.

Here is one idea i had:

* Meryl plays Jadis's mother in flashbacks showing the rivalry between Jadis and her sister. Perhaps the mother warns Jadis and, later, when she encounters Aslan, she hears her mother's voice, not what he is saying. (I came up with this idea when trying to get my head around the fact that Meryl was in discussion to voice Aslan).

Another option could be she plays Polly's mother (on face value, she would appear too old, but it does appear Polly's family are going to play some part in the film).

Or, it might just be a cameo, as a shop-keeper when Jadis goes on her London rampage -- something which, thankfully, we know is going to feature in the film.

What was your first impression of the Walden films?

Did you like the Walden films when you first saw them? The first one, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, was shown in 2005 during the Christmas holiday season. I watched it in a movie theater, which was the only way one could see it before the DVD was released. I thought it was quite a good film even though there were some deviations from the book (e.g., the wolves chasing the Pevensies on to the ice), but not too many to ruin the story. Prince Caspian kind of disappointed me with an adult playing the role of a young teenager and with its extended battle scenes that were not in the book. But I got to like it better years later when rewatching it, realizing that it had more of the book in it than I had previously thought. Voyage of the Dawn Treader I liked somewhat because it had beautiful special effects, and I thought the story was a bit closer to the book than Prince Caspian. That film was criticized too much, although it could have been much improved. I have to admit that I really enjoyed going to the theater and watching all three of the films. And I ended up buying all three of them on Blu-ray and have rewatched them quite often. I liked them better than most of today’s films and recommend them to all Narnia enthusiasts. You can like something that isn’t perfect even if it is just for entertainment, although the original books will offer you so much more. :)
