I have four out of five Narnia solo games that were unofficially published in the 1980s, and have played two of them so far. Admittedly, I'm really enjoying them.
Has anyone here played them? What are your thoughts on choose-your-own-adventure-type games being made based on the Narnia stories? Would you like to see more?

I enjoyed the one that was called "Return to Deathwater" because that is one of my favourite sequences from one of my favourite books, and if was fun to indulge the whole "expanded universe" of it all.
However the others I found a bit of a slog, as they just felt more like generic fantasy choose-your-own-adventure, and lack the inherent Narnian quality of CS Lewis's prose.
Wow. Had no idea these were a thing!
I do like the idea of games set in between the books with alternative stories - obviously apart from avoiding spoilers it gives you a chance to explore the world more. Not sure how much I'd really want to see a Narnia MMO game, but something like that would be a great platform for something like this today!

There were a number of unofficial things published back then. Once the BBC serials were being made, the lawyers got tougher.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Interesting. I found parts of the first one a little confusing to navigate, though I liked the story and the thematic ties to Dawn Treader. It might just be because this was my first time playing a game like that. I think I’ll need to replay it at some point to give it a fair shot.
I did love getting to explore Narnia on the map in 'The Sorceress and the Book of Spells'. It really gave the whole thing a sense of adventure and scale.

eBay has proven to be a treasure trove for rare Narnia merchandise and games. The fifth book published 'Return of the White Witch', is extremely rare and expensive since the Estate shut down production.

I had them, don't know whether I've still got them. Haven't seen them for twenty years or more. Don't remember the details.
What I liked the least about them, was that if I always made the good choice, I would just go straight through the adventure in a minimum of steps, without anything interesting happening. If I wanted an interesting adventure, I had to make some bad choices. I don't find that to be a good way to write such a choose-your-own story.
