As others have said, I imagined it would be LWW next. Amongst other reasons it makes sense to follow with it after Magician's Nephew. Just really hoping more get filmed after to avoid yet another Narnia outing with LWW adaptation, plus one or two others, and that's your lot.

Hmm, this a tough one. I voted The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe as Greta's second Narnia movie because that would be the most logical one to do after The Magician's Nephew, especially if it seems they're going in chronological order.

Though it's possible that she could do The Horse And His Boy, and another director could do The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe in between that and The Magician's Nephew

As for the other ones, I honestly don't know. Though I will say I just can't see her doing The Last Battle, because it's arguably the most complex book in the entire series. So I don't know how she would be able to do that.

So even though I voted The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, if I have to guess what Greta's next Narnia film would be, it would either be that one or The Horse and His Boy

Then, of course, it will all depend on how well The Magician's Nephew does first if it is going to continue on.

Yes, that is true enough, but LWW, itself, has sequels in two different directions, unlike all the other books. But Greta Gerwig has been slated to film 2 different films, not more. And one of those sequels, Prince Caspian, is followed by four other Narnia chronicles in succession, the same as its publication order. Nobody so far has chosen either Prince Caspian or Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Of the remaining chronicles, excluding LWW, itself, three tie as an alternative to LWW on 4.8%. Of these three, which one would be most suitable as a second choice. Which of these in everyone's opinion would be most suitable as either a second or third choice? They include:

1. Silver Chair

2. Horse and his Boy?

3. The Last Battle?

All three were not filmed by Walden, though BBC produced a version of Silver Chair

I'd go for Horse and his Boy, so long as it has a rider that the events took place in the 15-year Pevensie reign. But when three of the Pevensies, especially High King Peter were neither the leading characters nor driving the action, could it be done as a standalone, with only reference to Queen Susan as the would be target of Prince Rabadash's ambitions?

To be fair, I based my poll on the assumption that Greta Gerwig's second Narnia movie would also be Netflix's second Narnia movie.

I guess if you consider the idea that Greta might take a few years off and let someone else do a movie in between, then I guess she could do any of them

But for now at least we will work on the assumption that she'll do the next movie as well as this one.

Assuming if the next movie is NOT The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, then I think the Horse and His Boy is the only choice. It would be strange to follow up The Magician’s Nephew with ‘The Silver Chair’ and then have either an older Eustace for Voyage of the Dawntreader, or else later recast a younger Eustace.

I guess you could argue that Netflix could  continue on from where Waldron had left off, but given that they have optioned all 7 books, why would they skip the earlier books?

I would have the same objection for the last battle. Given that all of the main cast die in this story, Netflix would then need to recast Jill, Eustace and all of Pevensies for the earlier outings. And the Last Battle would not have any of the context from the earlier 4 (5 if you count the Horse and His Boy) stories.

@icarus  To be fair, I based my poll on the assumption that Greta Gerwig's second Narnia movie would also be Netflix's second Narnia movie.

And yes, that would be a logical conclusion, when we know that Magician's Nephew is the one under production, & when the assumption is that the books would be filmed in chronological order. But is that really the case? We were discussing the change of time frame in that book, to 1955, in this thread, with the 1979 cartoon version of LWW coming up for discussion as a comparison. This LWW version is a standalone without reference to either the Magician's Nephew or Prince Caspian. There is no mention in this cartoon version of the wartime evacuations of children to country areas in UK, nor is there mention of the pow-wow with the Professor to explain the missing fur coats, in the wardrobe, let alone how the wardrobe came to be. It is mainly Lucy's recollection of what happened in LWW. I'll have to dig out my own copy of this version of LWW, to watch it to see what is done about how the adult Pevensies return to the Professor's house, or whether adult Pevensies were needed at all in that production.

And then I remembered there was some discussion earlier in the year, about Greta Gerwig wanting to have a look at this standalone LWW. I remember thinking at the time she might be planning an animated version, but I was wrong. What if she was also expecting to do a standalone version of MN the same way? A sort of Tales of Narnia version of Magician's Nephew? In that case, her second Narnia book would also be done in like standalone fashion.

@davidd Assuming if the next movie is NOT The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, then I think the Horse and His Boy is the only choice

That was my conclusion as well. Neither PC nor VDT have rated a ranking in icarus' poll, and I can't see either as a standalone tale, though that might just be my own lack of imagination. BBC runs both its versions together in the one DVD I have, whilst Walden's versions expands both tales in its productions. BBC's Silver Chair is faithful to the series but, so far, is already a standalone, when none of the Pevensies appear in it anyway, except as Eustace's recollections.  As for the Last Battle, feasibly it could be a Tale of Narnia's finish, when all the Pevensies are of adult age. But wouldn't it still have to be a sequel of the Silver Chair, because of Eustace & Jill being main characters in both books?
