An original 1950s movie involving this talent, where the protagonists meet the personification of Mother Earth in an other world and where a swimming pool serves as a transportation device because the water in all the worlds is connected or something like that? I'd give my hopes for that a 4. My hopes for a good MN adaptation are currently at 1, however. I dislike the time period change, I have a bad feeling that a bad swimming pool experience will influence the scene in the Wood too much, I fear the possible implications Digory being with Jadis in London will have for her characterization and Andrew's fall from grace, I'm slightly worried about the Jadis/Letty confrontation and I haven't even mentioned the big elephant in the room yet. I'm rounding my vote down to 2, but my expectations might increase if we get an indication that they're actually trying to adapt scenes from the book. the recent report about the homes makes me a little less worried that they will cut some of the most memorable moment from it, and the scene with Letty might still be successfully reworked despite Jadis' magic use, as has been discussed elsewhere.
@bismdweller If GG is going science fiction, I am down to 0. Where did you get the idea of Mother Earth?
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."

My word, that sounds like one of the bizarre plot mashups some of us here come up with (I've just invented a couple more this evening) in the "Write a Synopsis" game.
Am I right in guessing the personification of Mother Earth is what a female version of Aslan might turn out to be?
I also hope the upcoming movie is not going to be THAT far removed from the original story, but given the snippets of info we have so far, and the lack of confirmation of so many important things, I'm bracing myself for just about anything.
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
I meant if this was a totally original production inspired by MN, sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Aslan should obviously stay as he is.
I'm still hopeful. But this is only because I'm constantly reminding myself we have only seen small, separate pieces of the puzzle at this stage. Everyone involved seems to have such respect for the material and Greta too - though I do realise they're probably briefed to say all that in their interviews. I like to think positive.
I'm wondering whenever we will get some kind of announcement/snippet on Christmas/Boxing Day since if I remember correctly, the official Netflix streaming release date was Christmas next year? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So I still sit very solidly in the middle where I'm likely to stay until we start seeing some footage of the movie. There's been some really positive news (like Gerwig's quotes and I actually really like the footage of the London Tower action sequence) and on the other end of the spectrum I can't get past the idea of Streep's voice as Aslan. So we'll see.
I will add that I AM very much enjoying living through the experience of all the news for Narnia coming out again. Good, bad, and ugly.
Despite telling multiple friends about the disappointing news and rumors about this movie, I'm still excited. I can't help it. We are already seeing Digory, Polly, and Fledge for the first time. It IS exciting. Even if it's not good, I'm having a blast. I get to talk about Narnia. Netflix may blow a lot of moments and elements, but surely they can't ruin them all. I'll probably get to see Digory and Polly in the Wood Between the Worlds. That's wonderful! It's called "The Magician's Nephew," and we have the magician cast, so I'll get to see Uncle Andrew and the rings.
@anfinwen thanks for the positive encouraging thoughts!
I've been on the low side, and maybe I'll still be disappointed when I see the completed work, but the bottom line is that I can direct people to read the book, where I hope they'll understand the writer's message and story!
