Miley thought about this. "Anyway we can do this without letting Peter or our siblings knowing and ruining our girl's night? They would have a heart attack at the thought of us in the woods alone. I do have mace and could always use my cell phone if we run into any trouble with criminals or wild animals."

"Heh, yeah. They would. I used to know someone who wouldn't freak out at the idea..." Chloe got the far away look in her eye again, and she stared at the wall without seeing anything. "But," she shook herself, "We probably should tell someone where we're going. In case we get eaten by a bear or something," she said with a teasing tone.

Abigal glanced sadly at her, once, before returning her eyes to the ceiling of the room. She said nothing about her there, and about her making her uncomfortable. Her presense actually reasurred her slightly, for she could tell Maralyn was older and wiser, then she. "Hello..." she whispered, sighing sadly.

Ian chuckled "Can sue you for wearing jeans to your church? That's ridiculous." he said then sighed rising up to his full stature and coming to the bars. "I had a dreeam last night that kinda freaked me out....I think it's a sign...but I don't know of what"

Brian cleared his throat "I wasn't going to mention this...but John said something about stealing Jen away from you Pete"

Jen recoiled at the thought of John even touching her with a ten foot pole. "If he dare tries I will take a baseball ball and whack him in the head!"
Peter was in shock. "What is his problem?" Then, a thought occured to him. "What if John snuck in my house and put hair removal cream into my shanpoo or cast a spell on me to make my hair fall out?"

Chuckling, Justin said, "Kinda takes on a whole new meaning of suing the pants offf someone." THen, he grew concerned. "What happened?"

MIley giggled. "Who are we going to tell?"

"Hmmm...that I don't know," Chloe answered her friend.

Well, she didn't kick me out or shout at me, Maralyn thought. And she did acknowledge that I'm here, talking to her. That's a good sign.
Maralyn had seen worse cases of depression during her few years working at the hospital.
"Mind if I take a look at your legs," she asked gently.

Abigal whimpered and sat up scooting slightly away from Maralyn. "Please don't touch my leg's....please.... they are already bad enough" she rolled over, facing her back toward her.

"Well....it was after I was released. I saw a church...where everyone was praying for some one. Then I saw a beautiful girl, with brown hair and eyes, but she was crying. Then I heard a car crash and a cry of a voice that sounded like some one I knew. But...I don't know what it means!" Ian said with a sigh.

Brian sighed "Hey Peter...you'll be okay..."

"They hurt?" Maralyn asked with concern and alarm in her voice. The doctor had not told her about that aspect. Only that she had not been keeping up with her therapy.

Peter said, "I hope so because everything in me would die if he stole Jen from me. He put an arm around Jen. She means a lot to me, more than my hair does even."
Jen felt her heart melt at what Peter just said. She hugged him. "Peter means a lot to me too and he's just as handsome as ever."

Miley suggested, "Hmm, send Peter off to a spa and tell my parents!"

Justin thought for a minute. "Could it have been the crash Amanda was in?"

"Yes..." Abigal said a tear rolling down her cheek. "When ever I move them. I'm so afraid I'll never walk again. Ever again. Please don't touch them"

"No....I think it had something to do with this brown haired girl. She was really pretty...do you know her? She was shorter...slim...brown hair and eyes....it was so fuzzy I can't tell you more" Ian said.

Brian nodded. "Well if he tries...I'll stop him. You don't need anything else Peter"

"I'll just tell my dad. He and Josh and Josh are coming home this weekend and they might just join us...with their own campfire, of course." Chloe paused, hesitating. "Unless you don't want them to come along."

"That is odd..." Maralyn said to herself. "When did you first start feeling the pain in your legs? Was it ever just numbness?" She seemed to enter into the nuse mode.

Jen agreed, "And I will stop him too."
Feeling grateful for his friends, Peter managed to smile. "Thanks." Then, his thoughts turned to sports. "Will you be at practice?"

Justin shrugged. "So, it wasn't a model or basketball player." He thought for a while. "Wonder who was in the crash?"

Miley decided, "Actually, I may feel safer if they did."

"I was at therapy when it started....before I couldn't really feel my leg's at all. They were in casts. Then the casts were removed and I went to therapy. But when ever I moved my legs it began hurting." she bit her lip "I don't know what anyone can do...." she clutched the small pocket bible in her hands. "I just want to walk again."

"Kay, then." Chloe smiled and nodded. "I'll asked them. And Josh fries the best fish," she said in a whisper as the teacher entered the room.

"And there was no in between point. No point at which you partly felt, or had no pain?" Maralyn kept asking questions in a gentle tone.

Miley giggled. "Sounds awesome."

As lunchtime approached, Peter asked, "Do you think I should go to soccer practice? I mean what if they laugh at me too?"

Abigal shook her head. Then stared long and hard at Maralyn "Who are you?" she asked in a tearful voice. She seemed to be so sure of herself, curioues, but gentle.
