The prodution is looking for two children, a boy and a girl, to portray characters that are 10 or 11 years old. At this stage, the description does not specify any particular physical characteristics for the roles, such as height or hair color. Filming and rehearsals are scheduled to take place in the UK from June through Christmas 2025.

...and with that, we are assuming that 'The Magician's Nephew' is the first movie being made, so I'm going to go ahead and start a couple new threads for the lead child actors in the movies. Once the casting announcement has been made, we can amend this thread title. But until we have that news (they're only just now starting the casting process) I wanted to go ahead and open this thread to see if any of you have any ideas for a 10-11 year old actress from the UK that might be a good fit for Polly? I admit that I'm out of the loop when it comes to children this young, plus (if I can get my wish) it will be a fresh face that hasn't been seen before. But it's always fun to speculate.
Wolf man the remake for 2025 has a ten year old UK actress called Matilda Firth. Since, the film is not really out yet, I have no real idea of her talent. But, she is definitely a possibility.

@eustace she's delightful! Only just 10, been in lots of films already, confident and reminds me of Georgie at that age. In fact her home city of Leeds isn't far from Ilkey where Georgie comes from! But the interview clip I just saw tells us she's got two more films lined up, so I daresay she won't be working on Narnia.

As per my Digory suggestion, I'll have to look towards the film 'Blitz' (2024) as a point of reference... Not just because of the Nina Gold connection, but also because it's one of the most recent films I've seen with significant child roles, and if you go back much further than 2024 you tend find all the kids have now aged-out of contention.
Anyway, there is one girl in that film who gets a short but prominent couple of lines, and her name is Thea Achillea. Not a lot to go off in the short scene. but again i felt she looked confident and gave good energy, so definitely a good starting point.

Anyway, the thing I thought most interesting, is that not only does she actually have a very well managed Social Media presence, but also that she actually did a photoshoot back in 2023 as Lucy Pevensie, and in late 2024 she re-posted it, stating how excited she was about the prospect of potentially applying for a role in Greta Gerwig's film.

She's still only 10 years old, so within the age bracket required, and therefore id say it's almost guaranteed she would be applying. Plus given that Nina Gold already cast her in a minor role for Blitz,. she'd probably already be on her radar anyway.
A month or so ago, Thea Achillea confirmed to us that she had auditioned for a role in Narnia but couldn’t say much else.
Then just this morning, she re-shared two of her Narnia-inspired photoshoots to her Instagram Story with the caption “busy manifesting”.
There was also a comment left this week replying to a Narnia fan asking when they could find out if she got the part, “hopefully there will be casting news soon”.
Rehearsals are expected to start later this month, so if Achillea is still hoping for the role, I’d assume she’s at least one of the finalist for Polly 👀

I've watched Thea's showreel, and she's very good. I wish her well!

Six hours ago Thea Achillea reposted her Narnia photoshoot and said she was still hoping for that. So, right now I am taking this as good news for her that she is still in the running and they haven't told her nay yet.
There is no official announcement yet, but judging by the photos from the set, Polly will be played by Beatrice Campbell. I saw this young actress in the films "The Phoenician Scheme" and "The Stolen Girl". I liked her acting. In appearance, she also quite matches the book type. The only thing that confuses me is that she looks quite mature for a ten-year-old Polly. In the photos from the set, she can be given 13-14 years old.
@orsha if that's her in the blue dress, she looks 10 -11 to me. In The Stolen Girl, she's realistically playing 8-9, and looks just right. That was filmed in summer 2023. I haven't located her actual age yet.

I'm not entirely sure there is age gap between the two actors, given that David McKenna is apparently 13, and Beatrice doesn't look older than that.
However, i am wondering whether they'll be a Class gap between the two.
So far, we've seen lots of shots of Digory walking home from school past bomb damaged houses, industrial fish markets, and finally ending up in a working class victorian terraced estate. All of which to me give off strong East End of London vibes.
By contrast, we've yet to see any additional scenes for Polly, and no body double either. Which is super weird if she is Digory's neighbour - why wasn't her character present in Bradford?
Other than the opening weekend shoot by the Royal Exchange, I think the only rumoured sighting of Polly was at the Albert Bridge site in Battersea / Kensington.
Also, in one of the latest WhatsOnNetflix reports they cite an Extra who's been cast in the role of "Kensington Street Child" and we know that a street in Kensington was potentially one of the first streets they scouted.
Therefore I'm maybe imagining a scenario whereby Digory is a working class boy from the East End of London, and Polly is a more well-to-do girl from the posh district of Chelsea & Kensington in West London.
Wow, I really have a hard time believing either of them are 13, especially David. My daughter is 10 and looks to be noticeably taller than Beatrice (but my daugher is tall). I wonder if their agents can be contacted to confirm those ages? Not that it really makes a huge difference in the end, because they LOOK to be the correct ages I imagined in the books (in fact, Digory appears to be a bit on the younger side) and that's the part the matters. But to satisfy my own curiosity, I really want to know if those ages are accurate.
I liked her acting.
Welcome to NarniaWeb, Orsha. I haven't seen any movies with Beatrice, so I'm glad to hear you like her acting.

When I watched The Stolen Girl, I thought her character looked older than her stated 9 years. The actress who played her "twin sister" turned 12 during filming. Theoretically, they should be the same age.
Thank you)) It was nice to find a community where you can discuss news about Narnia when everyone around is talking about Harry Potter.
@orsha actually, looking again she looks slightly older (the girl in the photos doesn't look as young as the first little head & shoulders pic). I wonder if this is her now, or if she was a double?

@coracle More information and photos from the filming are needed)) And it would be nice to finally get an official announcement about the cast. It may turn out that these photos are not Polly at all, or that Polly is played not by Beatrice Campbell, but by an actress who looks like her.
