There are photos on the home page of the two child actors from yesterday's filming. Could they be Digory and Polly? What are your first thoughts?

"Tollers, there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to try and write some ourselves." - C.S. Lewis
He looks like a mini Edmund and she looks like she's 2-4 years older than he is. It looks more like a big sister/little brother situation.
I'd say they don't look right for the parts of Digory and Polly at all. But given how strange everything seems about this Narnia adaptation so far, who knows??
Love the period cars and the classic London bus though
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
I'm not sure they look quite right from first looks, but I'm sure I'd get used to it if they are indeed Digory and Polly.
Seeing all these shots coming out is quite exciting. 🙂
If it's a London street in 1955, WHY havent any of the men got HATS on?
Also, does this girl resemble any of the child actors we have heard of?
The height differences are immaterial, as a girl of 10-12 is often taller than a boy the same age (earlier puberty growth).
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
"...when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor's stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards."
I saw this news break and had to finish school with my kids before I could comment. Priorities, you know?
This set of pictures gives me serious flashbacks to the time we saw the first pictures of Georgie Henley and William Moseley (I think Anna Popplewell too, but I don't quite remember as distinctly). They were outside on set, squinting into the sun. It wasn't their best photo, and unfortunately it led to a LOT of very undeserved criticism I won't repeat here. Thankfully, over time, we all fell in love with them. I'm sure the same will be true here.
Since we don't know for sure if these are Digory and Polly, or perhaps stunt doubles, (or perhaps neither?) I'm going to comment generally with the assumption that these are intended to be the two lead roles.
I LIKE the apparent difference in age and height. To me, it immediately leans away from ANY applied romance that seeps into just about every single movie production in this day and age. Let them be friends! And Polly and Digory do NOT have to be a set age for the story to work. This is their only story (not counting Last Battle) and aside from their being kids, the age means nothing.
Interestingly enough, probable-Polly looks VERY similar to Pauline Baynes' rendering of the character in the book.
While probable-Digory isn't how I imagined him to be, I don't dislike his look. And I don't want to be mean here at all, but he's a very lonely boy in the book and casting a kiddo with this appearance doesn't take away from that at all.
Loving all the news that's coming out and looking forward to more soon!

I thought Polly had straight hair in the illustrations? (I don't mean that as a complaint BTW. I don't believe the book describes Polly as having straight hair and even if it did, that's not the most annoying change they could make.)
For better or worse-for who knows what may unfold from a chrysalis?-hope was left behind.

@col-klink Given that we haven't seen any curly-haired English children in any of the adaptations so far, it's a nice change.

While I’m very curious to know the look that Polly and Digory will have in the movie, I see no need at this time to identify the actors playing these roles by name. I hope the privacy of these children is preserved for as long as feasible; it’s inevitable that in a relatively short time they will become public figures and their lives will be changed forever.
ETA: Never mind….
I have found the series The Stolen Girl, and am going to watch all 5 episodes to see how Beatrice looks in it. Her hair is light brown in this one, and she is a bit younger. However it came out only this year. It's English-made, although on Disney.
Note: It's rated 13, due to violence, offensive language (and other content unsuitable for younger people).

So that's not entirely true. Looking through photos, particularly ones which are of the extras filming (rather than just chilling off-set) I'd say that probably a quarter of them are wearing hats.
A mixture of flat caps and perhaps Trilby style hats. So not everyone has hats no, but a good proportion do
Back to the children though....
One of the things I get a sense of when looking at some of these images is that it feels much more likely that the dialogue from the audition has some basis in the finished script.
Digory looking all grumpy and sullen with something clasped in his hand, Polly looking more excitable and maybe more domineering asking to see it.
Also Digory saying he "found it on the pavement", makes way more sense for a street scene, rather than in the back garden.
Even the line about "I'm not like the others" suddenly makes sense when there are other children around.
Obviously the lines about the name "Isadore" wouldn't make sense (and would be especially weird given the poster with "Harold & Isadore" printed on it), but I think the audition dialogue really fits with this location.
Me too, @icarus . I re-listened to the audition scene on my way to work and thought that it now made a lot more sense considering recent revelations.
I can imagine D&P meeting after his school swimming lesson, where he's been bullied by his classmates, and Polly offering a hand of friendship when he's feeling down.
In the set video, he looks downcast and is clearly carrying a sports bag over his shoulder, in addition to his school satchel - perhaps it takes place shortly afterwards.
@icarus I hadn't seen the photo of all the seated extras until later today. Yes, that's a much better representation of men in hats.
