I'm mainly alluding, only half jokingly, to the fact that everything we've seen so far points to this movie being VERY different from the book it's supposed to be based on. So that's why I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the differences get so outlandish that some major characters or scenes aren't in it at all, or are so changed as to not really be recognisable. I'm exaggerating the possibilities there a bit for fun, but it's rather dark humour, because the only thing that seems absolutely certain about this adaptation is that we should expect the unexpected. 

Hi. You comment that you wouldn’t be surprised if Uncle Andrew isn’t in Greta Gerwig’s film at all. Daniel Craig confirmed on a red carpet that he is in Narnia but did not specify his role. If he’s not playing Uncle Andrew, who do you think he will be playing? Or voicing? Aslan? Someone else?

Mind you, considering the lack of faithfulness to the book that we've seen so far (even in what's definitely known of the movie, let alone what's been rumoured but not confirmed), I won't be surprised if Uncle Andrew either isn't in it at all, or is played as a completely different character from what established fans would expect... {ym}:eyebrow:  

(I mean, yes, the story as we know it is called The Magician's Nephew, which implies the magician needs to be in it as well as the nephew. But hey, even though that's obviously the story they're basing this adaptation on (however loosely), we still don't have any absolute confirmation that the movie itself will be called that, now do we?? {ym}:silly: )

He confirmed he's involved with filming for Narnia, but nothing more. I'm still assuming he's Uncle Andrew per the original rumor.

@Courtenay I also don't think he has the right build for Uncle Andrew, who ideally needs to be tall and skinny, not tall and, well, James Bond-ish.

But he also needs to be able to outrun a stampede of animals, according to one of Pauline Baynes' illustrations for Magician Nephew. Not to mention being stuck in a cage of sorts, have honeycomb thrown all over him, and have a particularly self-important sort of voice. {ym}:grin:   I think that Daniel Craig who has rather narrow eyes, might be just perfect for Uncle Andrew. {ym}:applause:

As to Craig's height, I wonder if perhaps what they're doing is making Uncle Andrew a bit shorter so it's easier for Jadis to really tower over him. Uncle Andrew's height isn't exactly important to the plot other than to make him an imposing figure to Digory and Polly and they can do that in other ways besides making him super tall. 

His performance as the villain in the Tin Tin movie does remind me a lot of Uncle Andrew character-wise and he can perform a very good villain (one of his first performances was as Sergeant Botha in The Power of One - which was a menacing performance whether or not you liked the movie).

I’d rather they get the character right than they get the look of the character right (though both would t hurt).
